NFL Free Agency: Which Philadelphia Eagles Target Is House Hunting in Philly?

Alec BeckmanContributor IIIJuly 25, 2011

With NFL free agency officially beginning Friday at 6 p.m. EST and with a negotiation period all this week, there have been many rumors circulating about how the Eagles will solve their hole at defensive end.

Listen to no rumors other than this one, because this one can be called almost official.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that Ray Edwards is expected to sign with the Eagles. This is not the selling point, so don’t start raving about how people say things all the time to stir up rumors.

On 97.5 the Fanatic, Mike Missanelli reported that a realtor will be showing Ray Edwards different homes around the area on Thursday. Obviously, these reports are not coincidental.

Ray Edwards is 26 years old, 6'5" and 268 pounds. He finished with eight sacks in 2010 and 8.5 sacks in 2009.

The only concern that a fan should have about Ray Edwards is that he played on a line with Jared Allen and the Williams wall, who were always double teamed. That means that Edwards went against one-on-one blocking most of the time. How will he deal with being more focused upon by defenses?

Other than that, Ray Edwards seems like a very talented player who will add size and skill to the Eagles defensive line.
