Jones vs. Joe, where did it all begin. Well, I assume most if not all of the readers know the result of the fight. Many people will have different things to say about it. Some will say that Jones was shot; some will say that Calzhage is the greatest fighter in the world, and other will not say anything at all, because they will dread the day a legend died.

First of all let me tell you about my opinion of that knockdown that Jones scored in the first round. From what I could see, Jones did throw a very nice and sneaky shot, and it was pretty incredible.

On the other hand, it wasn’t the fact of the impact only that knocked Joe down, to me it looked like Jones’s forearm (bone) is that did the instant damage. Even though it was a legitimate knockdown, I would not attribute it to Jones’s skill or power alone.

Joe was the obvious pick in this fight. Who has Jones beat in the past five fights? Anyone solid? Trinidad? Well sure, he won that fight, but it was hand picked for him, and Trinidad was a balloon and nothing more.

Jones in my opinion had no chance. Joe has great output, and stamina. He had Jones hurt a few timed in the fight, and never even gave him a chance to throw a punch that was anything more than a jab.

So for those that want to say that styles make fights, and that Jones still has something left, I say that is not completely true. Sure, I am all for the concept of styles making fights, but a fighter has a certain obligation in the ring; he must throw something. Jones had nothing; he looked like Hakkar against Hopkins some years back. He had pretty good movement, and that’s it.

Now there is something else that I wanted to express to you guys. And please, if possible, comment whether you agree with me or not. I think that Jones is the next Holyfield for the sport of boxing. A once great fighter, slipping down to a joke. Jones had a great career, suffered two devastating losses, and keeps going.

I predict that we will see at least three more fights from Jones. He will always bring in a crowd, and he loves the crowd. So he will keep fighting, keep losing, and sooner or later, we will see the Holyfield/Tyson in this once great “Superman.”
