After 10 straight starts by Kings' goalie Jason LaBarbara and a 3-6-1 record to show for it, Los Angeles Kings' coach Terry Murray has finally given netminder Erik Ersberg his chance to start.
Ersberg played in 14 games last season and was met with much approval by fans and ended the season with a 6-5-3 record with 2 shutouts. He met criticism, however, as the Kings had relatively little to play for.
This season though, Ersberg is 2-0-1 and the overtime loss came after shutting out the Ducks through three periods, before finally allowing a goal to Chris Pronger as the Ducks' overtime powerplay ended.
Ersberg is scheduled to get the nod over LaBarbera once again against Dallas. Dallas is 5-7-2 and are tied with the Kings for 5th place in the Pacific Division.
