Thanks to the entire NFL Community for an extremely successful opening week in this new contest! If you were not aware, here is a recap of the rules.
The award for best overall community here on Bleacher Report goes to the Green Bay Packers. They produced not only in quality, but in quantity. There were well-written pieces, humorous articles, and very informative roundtables. A job well done, Green Bay!
The best written category was extremely hard to decide. There were countless brilliant pieces here on B/R, and all should be deserving of something.
We picked John Fennelly's article, "Atlanta Falcons: Prospering in the Postbellum," and Angel Navedo's Jets-Rams recap. The one we felt rose above all the rest, though, was an excellent article written by Gary Z, called "Ryan Grant: All Because of a Screen Pass."
We named Gary Z as the Best Overall Writer of the week because of the above article as well as a handful more. Be sure to catch up on everything Packers in his archive!
Roundtables are a very quick way of finding other fans' opinions before and after the big game. The winner of this week's best roundtable goes to the Green Bay Packers, headed up by Community Leader MJ Kasprzak.
The best discussion of the week took place on this piece, entitled "And the Comeback Player of the Year Is...

I would like to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the Green Bay Packers community.
I'd also like to thank Ted Thompson for giving us so much to write about by trading Brett Favre.
Nice work Andrew.

Congrats to all the Packer writers, we worked hard for this! Special shoutout to one of our newest contributors, Gary Z, for winning writer of the week! Great job everyone!

LOL!
Yes, and also thank Brett for participating in that controversy, and Aaron Rodgers for playing so great, and all the Rodgers-haters for refusing to see it, and all the Packers getting hurt for giving us that much to talk about--bad for the team is good for our blogging!
And I'd also like to thank Zach Kruse for all his support picking up what I could not keep up with because of the volume, and...oh, crap, they're playing the music to rush me off stage, so thank you academy, and God bless you all!
Good piece, Andrew...almost allows me to forgive you for being a Vikings fan! I guess that plus the last five contests, all Packers victories, is enough! (Hey, what's a rivalry without a little trash talk?)

I'll always just refer to one line when you trash-talk me:
Vikings, 28. Packers, 27.

Andrew—was it hard picking the Packers as the number 1 community? Gotta like getting the love from a Vikes fan!

Haha, yes it was difficult. But your performance made it easier, lol. Always love to read awesome articles, regardless of the team!

da da da, da da da da GO PACK GO!
vikings: thank the referees for botching the first safety; there was no illegal forward pass. only intentional grounding from the end zone results in a safety, and since there was an eligible receiver in the vicinity of the pass, there was no grounding either.
take off that safety and the score magically becomes 26-27 packers. oh well...what's done is done...good job packer writers! hopefully the team can take this momentum and run with it!
