Tonight we have a rematch of the two conference champions!

The Penguins of Pittsburgh travel to the motor city to challenge the 07-08 Stanley Cup Champions, the Detroit Red Wings!

Sid the Kid and his Penguins look for redemption against their foes. Will he get these edgy Pens back on the offensive track? This offensive team is in the bottom half of the league in goals scored. On the other hand will Detroit get back to their stout defense?

There’s no doubt the new rule changes have fundamentally effected scoring league wide. The power play rule, where the puck automatically gets dropped in the offensive zone, should play to the Red Wings strength as they usually take less penalties than their opponents. This year has been a little different however.

The Wings are getting more penalties than power plays, and stand just 15th in the penalty kill.  Still, this hasn't stopped them as they hold one of the best records in hockey, mainly due to their number one power play unit and new addition, Marion Hossa.

Tonight it will be a battle of the number one power play unit against the number five penalty kill unit of the Pittsburgh Penguins. I give the advantage to the offensive juggernauts in the Red Wings, mostly due to Pittsburgh being down a couple of defensemen.

Tonight should be a great game to watch for all hockey fans. With players like Crosby, Malkin, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom, and Hossa, there should be nothing but excitement all game long.
