Leads the SEC in rushing defense giving up 79 yards a game while also leading the league in offensive time of possession at 32 minutes a game.

Survived a test against LSU.

Alabama is still undefeated with their last real test of the regular season coming up when they host Florida in three weeks.
Jesse Monday #1
Adam Lindemer #1
They shouldn't be making reservations for the National Championship just yet.
Ryan Raber #1
You can not take anything from them for winning in Baton Rouge.Gap w/ Texas Tech should be narrowing, however.
Jeff Johnson #1
Rivalry game on the road and still they finds a way to get it done. It wasn't pretty, but it doesn't need to be.

Alabama is 10-0, and whether ranked # 1 or #2 doesn't really matter at this point. If Bama finishes the regular season undefeated and wins the SEC Championship game, they will be in the BCS NC game.
Michael #1
Just like old times: Florida and Alabama for the SEC.

Survived a scare in the Bayou

As well coached as any team in the nation, Alabama is my No. 1 team because of their balance on offense, and the schedule that they have managed to navigate without a loss.

Survived against Tigers, now need to take care of business until Florida.

Good team. Plays to their opponents level...may bite them later on.

(previous: 1) 10-0; beat No. 16 LSU 27-21 (OT) A very workmanlike performance by the 'Tide; without the gift-wrapped presents from LSU's Jarrett Lee (including a "peek seeks"), they would've been in trouble in Death Valley. Throw in a missed field goal by 'Bama kicker Leigh Tiffin at the end of regulation, and the Fightin' Sabans have a lot to work on before next week's game vs. Mississippi State.

The Tide ducked when they should have leaped. They should have blown out LSU last weekend. But they still won so no harm completely done. But now they have to face Florida for the SEC Championship, and that will spell doom for the Tide if they don't get it together against Auburn and Mississippi State.

Wonder what the outcome would have been if LSU had a QB that didn't throw so many INTs. However, credit to the Tide for capitalizing. With all the talk of Florida, wouldn't surprise me if it motivates 'Bama to finish this SEC deal.
Matt Poloni #2
The Crimson Tide are one of two remaining undefeated BCS conference teams. The SEC may not be the strongest conference this year, but it isn't far behind.
Raul Velarde #2
Yes they're undefeated, but last week they defeated a weak LSU defense.

How do they only score 27 against an LSU D that gave up 50+ to both Florida and Georgia?
Steve Moreau #2
This was a tough call...RIGHT NOW, I believe Texas Tech is the best team in the country. They have three convinving wins in a row and I don't see anyone challenging the Texas Tech offense. If Alabama wins out and beats Florida in the SEC Championship game, I would love to see an Alabama-Texas Tech national championship game but for right now, they're number 2.
Michael Shibley #2
Should win their next two games no problem...but can they beat the Gators in Atlanta?
Sooner03 #2
Another lack luster win....but a win is a win is a win. The problem is of course a loss is a death sentence for this team. They sweaked out another..so Tech takes the top spot. Not even a close call IMHO.
Burgess Shaw #2
Hate to say this, but the Big 12 South is tougher than the SEC itself.

As much as I dislike Nick Saban, he is running a great program this year.
Brett Kettyle #2
Loses the number one spot in my rankings because Texas Tech played so well and they were taken down to the wire against LSU. The computers apparently agree with me, as Bama is second in their rankings as well

I honestly think they will be the best team for the next few years; however, I am not sold on Alabama even yet. If they go undefeated by all means put them in. However, a one loss Bama and one loss Texas, Texas is better in my opinion and I have seen every game.
Jimson Cuenta #3
If the Crimson Tide makes it to the BCS Championship Game, Nick Saban should seriously think about giving Christmas presents to Ryan Perrilloux, Les Miles, and Jarrett Lee.

Slick Nick has his team riding high, can it continue through the SEC championship game?

Too many narrow victories. They are not playing like they believe the Tide are number one. This is the first week they drop as a result of a win.

Wow I can't believe BabyTate used that statistic after LSU (3-2 in SEC play) just amassed 201 yards on the ground. I'm trying to figure out why it was so difficult for Bama to defeat LSU when Georgia and Florida had no troubles.

Robbie, the crown is heavy, that is why.
