NHL, Anaheim Ducks, Breaking News, Brian Burke

Breaking news is coming down the wire as we speak. Brian Burke will step down as GM of the Anaheim Ducks and will be replaced by Bob Murray.

At this time there is no word as to whether or not Burke is also leaving the organization, or is simply taking on another role with the Ducks.

The team has called a press conference this afternoon at 3:30 pm EST.

Very interesting stuff coming out of Anaheim.  There is always a back story to everything, and hopefully this press conference helps to clear some things up.  The Ducks have been playing some pretty good hockey lately. The timing of the announcement is bizarre to say the least.

Of course this will once again fuel the speculation that Burke is on his way to Toronto. Personally, I am really on the fence about Burke, if indeed going to Toronto is his intention.

He is a bright hockey mind, but he has also made some bad decisions with the Ducks lately and is loyal to players he likes, whether they are good for the team or not (see Dan Cloutier or Todd Bertuzzi).

Anyway, we can't put the cart before the horse here.  We will have to wait until 3:30 like everyone else to see what the bottom line is.
