Reports today have stated that Ian Poulter has pulled out of the Singapore Open, worth around £3 million, because his driver was stolen at last week’s HSBC tournament in Shanghai.
The tournament is due to start on Thursday, and it is too late for a replacement driver to arrive.
Due to this unfortunate incident, Poulter pulled out so that if he played badly he would not lose points on his world ranking, which currently places him in 25th place.
Anirban Lahiri has replaced Poulter.

Hi Barney, I had heard about Poulter withdrawing from the Singapore Open becaue his driver was stolen.
I find it very odd.
Perhaps there was no way to ship the exact same driver to him in time for the Singapore Open, but surely there would be placing in bith China and Singapore that he could have gotten a very similar driver, not to mention all of the golf equipment companies that setup massive equipment vans on the grounds of every single professional tournament.
I think if Poulter wanted to participate he could have probably gotten the exact same driver or somethign very similar. I find his excuse very strange. Perhaps he just didn't feel like particpipating but didn't want to simply withdraw for no reason at all.
