NHL, NHL Northeast, NHL Northwest, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames

So the game has just finished and the Leafs lost to the Flames by a score of 4-3. If you look for hockey sports news on the web tomorrow you will likely see something from TSN or Sports Net on the game.

The Leafs started very well and for the first ten minutes of the game they carried the play to the Flames. Toronto got up 1-0 but then the bigger

Calgary players started fore checking much better and taking away the Leafs time and space to make that first good pass out of their end and get some speed through the neutral zone.

This had a bit of a domino effect and the Leafs had a hard time for a while getting the puck into the Calgary zone. Toronto only won about 35% of the face-offs on the night as well so that made things harder too because they were starting without the puck. The Leafs were flattered by the one goal loss.

For the last ten games or so Toronto had been winning about 60% of the face-offs at out shooting all of their opponents. So I guess turn about is fair play. They will have another tough test on Thursday when they go to face a good, young and fast skating team in Edmonton.
