as we have seen lately, the chances of a relocation occuring lately are slim to none in the world of the Big 4 Major Leagues in the U.S. as per the recent move by the Supersonics of the NBA to become the Thunder and the Expos of MLB moving to D.C. to become the Nationals. Both of these moves were the rare result of Certain cities not willing to help front the cash to replace the existing infrastructure that existed in order to justify the team staying in the market. call it
political reluctance, NIMBY, fan apathy or taxpayer's just not wanting anything to do with the project nor the franchise in general. the fact remains that the only way a Big league team could come to your town anytime soon, is if the negotiations fail to produce a stadium deal that all sides can be satisfied with in their current market or if the rare event occurs that a franchise has been deemed placed in a failed market. basically in the words of one MLB official who was recently quoted on the controversial topic as saying "the earth, the moon, the sun, the planets & the money have to be all aligned!". so while i'm sorry to burst the bubble of those who were hoping for the K.C. Royals to become the Sacramento Royals or the San Antonio Spurs becoming the K.C. Spurs, keep dreaming, but they're not gonna happen anytime soon, if ever...as it is always the beast of the business. unless as they say, a rare celestial alignment occurs to make something possible.
