Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson has been rewarded for his fine form in League Two this season with a call-up to the senior Canada team.
After making seven appearances for the U-20 side, Jackson could make his first senior start for Canada when they travel to Jamaica for a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, 19 November in Kingston, which coincidentally is where Jackson was born.
Canada are already eliminated from South Africa 2010, as they've drawn two and lost three of their group matches in CONCACAF Group Two.
Jackson will hope he can help turn their poor form around, as he joins the more high-profile UK based players such as the EPL's Paul Stalteri (Tottenham Hotspur), David Edgar (Newcastle United), and Asmir Begovic (Portsmouth) in linking up with the squad today.
The news of Jackson's call-up isn't too bad for Gillingham either, as Jackson is due to return on Thursday, 20 November, in time for the Gills' trip to Bury in the Coca Cola League Two.
After becoming Gillingham's top scorer this season, with seven goals to his name so far in the league, it's about time Canada legend Dale Mitchell picked Jackson for the senior squad.
