The Flyers came out sluggish to begin the third. At around the 8:33 mark, Scotty Upshall took a nasty hit in the Thrashers zone and skated gingerly to the bench, but did return on his next shift.

The Thrashers really dominated this period as the Flyers did little to stop them.

The Atlanta goal was a defensive letdown by the Flyers; Slava Kozlov had an easy tap-in. The Flyers came right back down to score with some nifty puck handling by Joffrey Lupul, who beat Johan Hedberg for his seventh goal of the season.

After the Flyers' goal, the Thrashers had a hard time getting things going as the Flyers were playing shutdown defense.

In this game, Mike Knuble recorded his 200th career assist, while Antero Niittymaki continued to close-out Atlanta records with his 11th straight victory against the Thrashers.
