Chelsea Youngster Set to Return

It seems that things havenโt worked out for Chelseaโs Ben Sahar at Portsmouth, because the news is theyโre sending him back in January.
ย
Our 19-year-old went off to Pompey on loan in the summer but having featured regularly for them pre-season, very little was heard about him after that, mainly because he hasnโt played a competitive game for them.
ย
Mind you, with Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Kanu and David Nugent all ahead of him, itโs hardly surprising Sahar hasnโt had a look-in.
ย
So, with the young Chelsea striker-come-winger not even named in the squad for the majority of the time, Portsmouth have decided not to take the option of extending his original six-month loan deal.
ย
Chairman Peter Storrie has confirmed the news, stating โBen will go back in January. It has been a mutual decision. Heโs not been involved but the coaches feel heโs not at that level and that he will be better in the Championship. Heโs had injuries and needs to play somewhere but I think at the moment that would be in the Championship. He may go to another Premier League side, that is up to Chelsea but he will go back to them at the beginning of January.โ
ย
I guess the bad news for Sahar is that if Portsmouthโs assessment is that he isnโt good enough for their first team, he wonโt fare any better on his return to Stamford Bridge.
