Thunder-Hornets: Oklahoma City Torn Between Two Loves

Today is going to be a combination of joy and sadness for me.  Joy that the Hornets are coming back to the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, but sadness that they will not be here permanently.

Don't get me wrong—I will still cheer for the Thunder and hope (and pray, 'cuz they need all the help they can get) that they win.  But the Hornets were the "home team" for my first NBA game.  They ignited a love for pro basketball in me. And that's saying something, because I'm a college football girl through and through.

But those guys—and Chris Paul in particular—were awesome to watch.  You could tell how much they appreciated the support of the fans in OKC.  We bonded with the individual players.  I almost feel like I know those guys.  All of you who have been NBA fans of a particular team for any amount of time know what I'm talking about.

I'll be at the game this evening—and if the truth be known, I will cheer for both teams.  I don't think I'll be able to help myself.  And for only the second time this season, I think I'll be happy with the outcome.

  1. Great first article! It's interesting that we took two different takes as OKC fans. ***** and POTD!

  2. Thanks for the pick, SportsMonk. Funny how the same subject evoked two decidedly different points of view. I will truly be both happy and sad no matter who wins.
