OKC Thunder fires P.J. Carlesimo after a 1-12 start. I have been to a couple games and thought that the players didn't play with "passion" or "guts."
Is it the coach or the players? I think that they have a lousy group of "player" leaders; there are no veterans to lead them. The NBA owners always seem to pull the trigger too quickly in my mind. P.J. Carlesimo is a great teacher and basketball coach. He didn't get dumb.

To say that Carleismo is a great leader and coach is insane! Carleismo is a horrible coach for a young team. His capabilities revolve around having a veteran team or being an assistant coach to a great coach. That's it.
Carleismo has been given two young teams in his career the Warriors and the Sonics/Thunder teams. He's failed miserably on both occassions he is not a great leader and he should have never been hired in the first place.
Clay Bennett was interviewed last night on ESPN from the stands. He was talking about the great fans in Oklahoma City and how his front office is all on the same page and how great they are and how Carleismo is the right coach. Kind of funny the next day Carleismo is gone.
Carleismo has Kevin Durant at guard that's just insane! He doesn't use any of his players strengths and has them playing out of position. Give me a break Carleismo should have been fired after his horrid first season as Sonics coach, so at least when the Sonics did move to Oklahoma City they had hope of a new coach.
PJ Carleismo is one of the worst head coaches in NBA history. He was a solid college coach and he was a fine assistant coach. The reason being is that he didn't have the complete control of the NBA team. You're quote of "Carleismo is a great teacher and basketball coach" is laughable. He's neither of those! In fact he's the exact opposite he's a horrible teacher and a horrible basketball coach.

Steven,
My question to you is "Have you coached on the Division I or NBA level? Do you know what it takes to coach at those levels? To say that it is laughable, is only your opinion. I stated what I believed because I have coached on the collegiate and minor league level. You have no idea of management wants Kevin Durant at the guard or forward spot. Sometimes, the coaches will be told to play a player at a certain spot.
Yes, I do question the management side firing a guy after 13 games into a 82 season. I have personally been to OKC Thunder games and maybe you went to Golden State Games. It is only an "OPINION".
Ok, maybe he isn't a great NBA Coach. Have you ever been to a practice or even ran a basketball practice. I find it laughable that someone would state such STRONG statements, when they haven't been on either level and know what it take.
Coach Carlesimo will be hired very quickly in the collegiate or NBA ranks, because he is a strong teacher and good coach.
