OK, Cassel is good.  So was Derek Anderson.

Yes his stats are about on par with Brady in 2001.  Brady was throwing to Brown, and Patten.*  Cassel is throwing to Moss and Welker.

(*OK, in one game Brady had Terry Glenn.  Moss> Glenn.  Point stands.)

While one can argue that Brown in 2001 was the equal of Welker now, that leaves David Patten compared to Moss.  I think David Patten is awesome and wish him the best with the Saints, but he isn't Moss.

Not to rain on the Cassel love parade.  I wish him well next year if he isn't a Jet.:)

However, unless Cassel leads the team to a Super Bowl or some team makes an absurd offer for Brady (like three #1 and three #2 draft picks) the trade Brady talk is insane

  1. I'm not sure 3 #1s and 3 #2s are enough to get Brady if I'm running the Pats. I'm thinking your entire draft for three or four years. Then we can talk...

  2. The Patriots should trade Tom Brady IMMEDIATELY!

What people forget is that Brady has been psychologically damaged by the brutal manhandling that he took at the hands of the mighty NY Giants in last years super bowl when the Pats had their dreams of a perfect season crushed. His leg injury will only contribute to his fragile mental status and leave him with little to no confidence in his rapidly fading athletic abilities.

Had Brady played a full season this year he would likely be LESS EFFECTIVE than Cassell (who is, clearly, now the better of the two quarterbacks).

Tom Brady will play next year with the same skill level as quarterbacks like Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn, Rex Grossman and Daunte Culpepper. He will spend the remainder of his career as a second, or third string quarterback, or possibly a starter on a second division team with a commitment to losing.

Therefore, the Patriots should trade Brady immediately while they still have the chance to hoodwink some dumb organization to take this shell of a former quarterback before the word is out that he can no longer compete at an NFL level.

The most logical trade. Tom Brady to the Dallas Cowboys for Adam "Pacman" Jones and a third rounder.

Or: Tom Brady to the Kansas City Chiefs for Bernard Pollard and a new Ambulet.

    1. Welcome Eddie, I've been expecting you.
