In the spirit of the holiday, and thanks to this sweet new slideshow function, we're taking an innovative approach to a B/R tradition.

Every Thanksgiving week, we focus on what each team in our college football poll has to be thankful for at this stage of the season, and this year is no exception.

From the Crimson Tide to the Rebels, from the Beavers to the Bearcats, find a seat at our table and let's give thanks.

But, before you dig in, take a look at how our college football community ranks them with two weeks left to play before bowl season.

Happy Thanksgiving Bleacher Creatures!

  1. Boise State and Utah being ranked above Ohio State is very annoying for us OSU alums ;)

  2. Utah's beaten more ranked teams than OSU. Get over it.

  3. And let's not forget the fact that both Boise State and Utah are undefeated while Ohio State has lost a couple of games.

  4. I don't think you guys caught the ";)" - I was kidding :) And I didn't say it was wrong, I said it was annoying.

  5. I would appreciate one solid reason as to why you speak of Penn State with the disrespect that you have in here. They wouldn't be a real BCS game? People should be glad they lost? Penn State can compete with any team in the country and I am fairly certain you have no piece of evidence stating otherwise. Maybe you'd like to do a debate via B/R article(s)?
Other than the disrespect to PSU, great article. The slideshow is an awesome touch.

    1. The reason is because Penn State plays in the Big Ten. I don't agree with it and it isn't "evidence", but that's the reason. It seems to be ok to be disrespectful to Big Ten schools, though I find it utterly hypocritical. I won't list the shortcomings of the "beauty conferences" because it won't be received. This bowl season the Big Ten needs to handle their business, even though I doubt it will shut the naysayers up. Penn State has been every bit as impressive as any number of one loss teams in the country.

    2. Thanks Kristofer. I don't follow all of the Big Ten as much as I do PSU, but PSU has held up very well against other conferences in recent years. The Penn State is a pretty deep conference this year so I think they will do well in their bowl games. The Big Ten is heads and shoulders about the ACC, Big East, and Pac 10 for sure, so it really makes no sense why they should get so much flack.

    3. I definitely think the Big 10 was underrated this year, and I think the major reason was the dismal season that Michigan was having. It definitely drew a lot of focus away from Ohio State and Penn State. Also Michigan State was having a stellar season this year too. And I definitely agree that the Big 10 is WAY above the ACC, Big East, and Pac-10 minus USC. It just comes back to Michigan, people love to talk about how terrible their season has been.....

    4. Brett-

Couple things. If you're interested in doing a PSU worthy/unworthy of a title try piece, I'd be happy to join you. Let me know.

But in terms of the disrespect you reference, please understand that what I try to do with our weekly write up is put myself in the shoes of 10 different fan bases. Knowing several USC fans, and having talked to them about bowl possibilities recently, the feeling I get is that they'd rather try their hand against a Big12 team. The Big Ten is played out in SoCal... Illinois last year, Ohio State this year.
Again, just a fair (in my opinion) representation of Trojan sentiment.

Now, that aside... my personal thoughts about PSU? Don't think they would fare very well against a USC team. But also don't want to see a PSU/Oregon State rematch. I think the Nittany Lions would be the somewhere between the 4th and 6th best team in the Big12. Probably the 4th best in the SEC. 2nd best in the Pac-10. They'd win the ACC and Big East.

      Thanks for commenting.
      Trey

  6. 1. Florida

    25. Western Michigan

My top 25 ballot, and yes, I'm ashamed of myself for putting WMU in at #25. I really thought they could beat Ball State.

  7. TT above PSU? What a joke. TT got emasculated. PSU's one loss was by a last second field goal. And don't tell me about the whole "OU" vs Iowa thing. Yeah Iowa is not the same opponent as OU, but if you let someone score 60+ points on you, you shouldn't be in the top 10. Period.

    1. if you let an unranked team beat you, you shouldn't be in the top 15. With your logic that's how it would go.

  8. I always enjoy Trey's work and try to never step on the toes of his articles, or any of the great individual team and Conference C/Ls with my comments.

However, I must advise that the only conference to place more than one team in the #1 position of the season–long series "The 11 Best 11s", published on the Bleacher Report and carried weekly by CBS Sportsline, is the Big 10, with Ohio State and Penn State. There have been 5 total #1s this season on the 11 Best 11s, Ohio State, Penn State, Sou Cal, Oklahoma, and Alabama.
