This week of college football is even more exciting than it seems, with the additional "Turkey Day" to go along with the usual Rival week of College Football.  The race toward the BCS National Championship gets closer.

Last week, my score predictions didn't match the scores though the predictions  surpassed what most analysts thought would happen and I don't intend that statement being taken as an arrogant remark.  There were a few upsets I thought would happen that didn't and some upsets that I didn't expect.

Oklahoma's destructive landslide was a bit under the radar and unexpected, but honestly, could anyone have predicted Oklahoma was going to man-hammer Texas Tech like they did?

If you did, I'll go ahead and give you a bravo, though I thought that Oklahoma could have won big, and considered it a possibility, I didn't think it was actually going to be near the outcome, a 65-21 win.

Florida's big win over Citadel was no surprise, but some spectators felt Florida needed to jump up to third, even second and though Florida has done terrific lately, to say the least.  it's just not enough for me to push them up.   But don't worry Florida fans and SEC enthusiasts, Florida will have their chance at a No.  1 spot in the SEC Championship game, stay tuned next week, and I'll tell you what I think will happen in that game.

Utah's mildly impressive win over 14th ranked BYU, improving to an undefeated 12-0 season, left me not only a little angry at the BCS, but also curious to why they didn't jump a 9-1, idle USC team.  You might make the argument, "Utah isin't a BCS conference team".  That is a fact, however looking back on both of their schedules, comparing and contrasting, you can't help but notice, not only is Utah's record much more productive, the've also actually played harder teams overall for this season.

That's my argument, like it or hate it, Utah is better, and we'll watch No. 17 Oregon State beat No. 23 Oregon this week to go to the Rose Bowl.  They will try to rebound against No. 8 Penn State from an early loss this season. (Penn State won big against Oregon State earler this season, though it won't be the same outcome in the Rose bowl).

Boise State barely survived in a fourth quarter comeback from Nevada, but the home field advantage wasn't enough to pull of the upet against conference rival #9 Boise State. My prediction was almost dead on.

During the late 1st and most of the second quarter of the Ohio State-Michigan game, you would have thought, "this might actually be close".  The Buckeyes answered that thought with a big "NO WAY." A score of 42-7 rocked the fans of Michiagn to sleep.  For the first time Michigan had a 3-9 season.  That was a mismatch game, but still it's one of the oldest rivalries in NCAA history, yet it was no contest.

So, what game did I not see coming?  No. 8 Penn State hosted No. 15 Michiagn State.  I thought MSU would win in a last second field goal, I suppose I should have learned my lesson when Ohio St won big against the Spartans.

  1. Hi,

from what I was able to make it through you seem to be pretty enthuiastic about what you are saying though I don't know too many people who will make it through that much text, especially an internet reader. you may want to break this out into 5 or 10 smaller articles and make it a series of a course of days. I wish I had the time to read the who thing but maybe I'll make another attempt at it.
    Good luck!

    Mitch

  2. Tghank You Mitch for your comment. I realize my article was pretty long, and I hope you and the other readers do indeed recieve the time to finish reading it. Most of my articles prior to this one was much shorter, but there were a lot of stories I felt that I needed to cover. Though, I probably won't go in your method, I'm listening, and I'm pleased to thank you for your comment.

    1. Well after a failed second attempt I give up but good luck to you and have a happy holiday. It's just you are 2 pages in talking about news that is generally a week old and everyone who would be interested in your type of article would have long moved on from, I pick all of the games too and while trust me, this isn't an insult, no one really cares about the games that have past, I used to do the same thing, now I just say what my record was the week before, 2 pages turns to 1 sentence which is much more reader friendly(by the way the whole world had Ole Miss outright in that LSU game, i think the poll on my site was close to 90% for ole miss). I used to write very much the same but through the help of a lot of people here I changed my format while still keeping my writing style, while not an easy thing to do i guess it's just a choice of who you are writing for: are you writing for yourself or for others to read? If it's for others then you have to give it to them in the format they want.
Through the help of people like Lisa Horne, Baby Tate, and the editing of Mosang Miles, Tim Coughlin, Gem Jefferson, Jeff Gorman and a few others they really helped show me what internet readers want to see, the results, my site went from 134 readers a week to over 350,000 a month in less than 3 months and I rank ahead of many of the major sites (espn, cbs, etc,) for many google searches relating to college football.
Good luck with everything and it's your choice and trust me, I know first hand it's a hard choice but the rewards have been amazing.

      Mitch

  3. Micheal, I spent well over an hour editing this article to get it from trash dumpster to train wreck status. Please read the editors comments with a little thought and know that I applaud your efforts and enthusiasm, but your run on sentences and confusing wording almost forced me to abandon attemps to finish editing it. But I figure everybody needs to edit one this once in their life... Please take the editors course offered on this site to gain insight into correct writing styles and so forth. Please re-read your own post as it was full of misspelled words and sentences that didn't make any sense at all when read out loud. I think you were too tired after writing all this to go back through it! You have good ideas and I think MItch, I and everyone else would enjoy you sharing them with us, just work on your style. Don't let me or my critique keep you from continuing to contribute, I know you will get better! Keep on plugging!

  4. I would thank both of you individually, but you both somewhat have the same concept of your comments, so I'll just write one. I appreciate both of your comments, I'll get better overtime, with expierience and expierimenting. Mithch, I'll do what you said of looking at those refernences of people, and also make attemps at "what the people want to read."

I'll admit Larry, my run-on sentences are off, I wouldn't go so far as a "train wreck", but I do need to get better. Mitch, that's an encredible and inspiring story, as I hope to do the same.
    Thank you for your comments!
