Slidell High rulz!!!!

Bears rookie running back Matt Forte is making his alma mater look better each and every Sunday, and now he is making his run toward the best fantasy rookie of 2008.

But there still is time for the other hopefuls, including Houston’s Steve Slaton. With Ahman Green on injured reserve, Slaton should get a few more cracks at the end zone in the coming weeks.

Now that the season is winding down and rookies are getting more playing time due to injuries and teams wanting to play their younger players, these young guns might start to fool you.

You might these one-week wonder rookies are worthy of being on this list, but this list is meant for those that have helped your fantasy teams all season long. This is the best of the best and one and two week wonders won’t cut it here...

Honorable Mention: Eddie Royal, WR, Broncos

Royal is the top-scoring rookie reciever so far this year and deserves a spot on the list. He is just out of the Top Give and needs his quarterback Jay Cutler to stop pouting on the sidelines and, in the immortal words of Keyshawn Johnson,  “throw him the damn ball.”

5. Tim Hightower, RB, Cardinals

Hightower has been the goal line back for the Cardinals all season with nine touchdowns to prove it. He is getting his chance to win the starting job, but needs to be more consistent and show that he is an every-down back in this league.

4. Chris Johnson, RB, Titans

Johnson isn’t showing the burst he once was showing, but a game against Detroit might be the therapy he needs. His speed will have the Lions chasing him all game long. Look for Johnson and the Titans to get back on track in a big way on Thanksgiving.

3. Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons

Did you see what the Falcons did to the Panthers this past weekend? The Falcons hung 45 on the once proud Panthers defense. Granted Ryan didn’t throw a touchdown, but he managed the game and is the likely candidate for NFL Rookie of the Year.

Too bad this is a list based on fantasy production or he would easily be No. 1.

2. Steve Slaton, RB, Texans

Ahman Green keeps stealing Slaton’s touchdowns, but Green is banged up which could allow Slaton to start scoring touchdowns again. Slaton owners will be happy to see him handed the ball inside the ten-yard line this weekend.

1. Matt Forte, RB, Bears

Forte has a big lead in fantasy points on the other top rookie running backs, but goes about his business quietly. Maybe that’s why he is overlooked so much on this list, but no more. Forte is our new No. 1, no question!

  1. I would go this:

    1. Matt Ryan
    2. Matt Forte
    3. Chris Johnson
    4. Eddie Royal
    5. Steve Slaton
    HM: Tim Hightower

  2. While I am very proud of the Slidell High Tiger, Matt Ryan is excelling at a position that is supposed to be the most difficult for rookies to adjust to. To make matters more difficult, many ATL fans STILL can't let go of the fact that Vick is not coming back and had a difficult time accepting Matt Ryan. I like William's list.
