Players of the Week

QB

Chase Daniel, Missouri (vs. 6-5 Kansas that was No. 7 in the final polls last year)

Daniel has become the Big 12’s forgotten marquee QB after starting the season as the Heisman frontrunner. In his two career games vs. the Jayhawks he’s averaged 359 ypg (76 percent) with a 7-0 ratio. Kansas is allowing 307 ypg passing (67 percent) with a 19-7 ratio in Big 12 play this year. It will be balmy in KC for this with a projected 53 degrees and partly cloudy.

RB

Kendall Hunter, Oklahoma St (vs. No. 3 Oklahoma)

I feel that if Hunter has a big game here he will likely take home All-American honors at RB. Oklahoma St is off a bye and loaded for their rival while Oklahoma is off that huge win over No. 2 Texas Tech and is pondering their BCS chances.

Hunter is at his best in big games. He rushed for 154 (6.4) vs Missouri. Texas had the No. 2 rush defense in the NCAA when he rushed for 161 yards with an amazing 8.9 ypc. He added a combined 58 yards receiving in those two. OSU will want to keep the Sooner offense off the field so look for another big day from Hunter.

WR of the Week

Jarrett Dilliard and James Casey, Rice (vs. 7-4 Houston)

Dilliard leads the NCAA with 19 TD’s this year and is averaging a super 15.7 ypc. Last week I used an unheard of combo vs Houston and they nearly guided the Miners to the upset combing for four TD’s. Dilliard and Casey have each already topped 1000 yards receiving this year.

If you want an unheard of name like last week I will mention Corbin Smiter who had 14 catches the first 8 games but 11 for 299 yards (27.1) the last three. Look for big games from all three this week as Rice spoils the CUSA title hopes of the Cougars.
