On November 21, 2008, in front of a packed house of his hometown fans at Casino Rama in Ontario Canada, little Stevie Molitor lost in his attempt to unify his IBF super bantamweight title with the WBA title against Celestino Caballero of Panama.

Caballero is the the current defending WBA champion, and he out-fought out-classed and out-worked Molitor from the opening bell.

Molitor just didn't look to be in fighting shape for this match...he looked gassed..his speed and footwork were visibly absent, and the lightning fast jab that we are so used to seeing, was simply not effective in this fight.

Between rounds Molitor's trainer could be heard imploring Steve to fight harder, but Steve simply didn't have it him, he lost in round four.

The great Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran was in the house to cheer on his fellow countryman and he wasn't disappointed by the out-come.

Duran held world titles at four different weights—lightweight (1972-79), welterweight (1980), junior middleweight (1983-84), and middleweight (1989).

Duran was the second boxer to have fought in five different decades.

Saoul Mamby became the first boxer in history to compete in five decades. Two weeks later, Roberto Duran became the second fighter to do it.

Roberto Duran finally retired in January 2002 at age 50 (having previously retired in 1998) following a bad car crash in October 2001, with a professional record of 119 fights, 103 wins with 70 KOs.

Up until the second Ray Leonard fight, he was trained by legendary boxing trainer Ray Arcel.

  1. Now Stoker, you know I am not a boxing fan. Are you trying to change my allegiances?

  2. yup...because having some knowledge of boxing will def make you a better mma writer..actually I believe boxing could now be defined as one form of mma....a sport inside a sport..im hopeful that the two can someday blend into one..and the eight or twelve ounce gloves turn into 4 ounce mma style and the roped ring is upgraded to an octagonal shape...dream on stoker..lol
