Sir Alex Ferguson has recently said in the press that he doesn't feel threatened by Man City, but more threatened by Liverpool and Chelsea as the "richest club in world football" lie only 11th in the League standings.

A defeat for Man United this weekend at the hands of their Manchester rivals will all but end their title hopes, but they can never be written off.

The threat to the United defence is a very different attack to what they have faced in recent weeks, as they are facing certainly some of the best players in the country, if not the world.

  • B/R Ticket Guide

With Shaun Wright-Phillips on top form, as well as Stephen Ireland who seems on unstoppable form so far this season and of course the Premier League's most expensive player, Robinho, back from a slight ankle problem.

However, United have their usual resilient defence in place, conceding only ten league goals so far this season. But the statistics they will find it slightly harder to keep the Man City attack out as they have scored 29 league goals so far.

I do believe, however, that Man City are only a threat on the day, but currently won't pose a threat to break into the top four.

I do believe that if Man City are to pose a real threat to break the top four, they need to gain some consistency and proper team cohesion, like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are able to have because there aren't influxes of players and have almost a set starting XI.

The two teams attacking flair should create an exciting, fast paced game of football.

  1. Nice preview.

  2. Good preview. I dont believe City pose a threat to the top 4 THIS SEASON. Next season however, City will be a force. No doubt about it. Mark Hughes will be given a chance to build this squad. The new owners do not have an itchy trigger finger. They are smart businessmen who know how to run a successful business. They know that you MUST have stability in order to be successful.
