Sometimes, I just don't understand football. This comes after the Second Round of the FA Cup results that I have seen. On paper, there should be no such thing as a "giant-killing" but we are constantly seeing these upsets.

Whether it be a state of mind of the stronger team that they will just make the game a walk in the park, or the added motivation of the "minnows" to beat teams that are ranked much higher than them in the football league standings.

The best example of this from recent results is from the game between Wycombe Wanderers and Eastwood Town. Eastwood Town of the Unibond League Premier Division, some way away from the football league, beat the League Two leaders and also the only unbeaten team in the football league.

It baffles me how teams like Eastwood could beat Wycombe when 17 League Two opponents haven't been able to.

With Wycombe having won ten of the 17 league games played and drawn seven, they remain the only unbeaten team in the football league.

As football appreciators, we all love to see a "giant killing" except from when it happens against our own team. That's why I'm sure everyone will be willing Eastwood Town and other non-league teams like Forest Green Rovers to get their dream fixtures against the best in the country, the Arsenals, Manchester Uniteds, Liverpools, Chelseas, and any other Premiership Team.

  1. Effort makes a massive difference in a game and when one team is putting in 60% and another 110% - thats when you see an upset - plus a bit of luck of course!
