DeAndre Liggins Proves Himself, Michael Porter and Ramon Harris Injured
With the Kentucky Wildcats leading by 12 and the game just six-and-a-half minutes in,ย Michael Porter and Ramonย Harris butted heads. Unfortunately, it was physically, and not figuratively. Two of Kentucky's key players, who both play a decent amount of minutes, ran into each otherย during aย loose ball on Lamar's side of the court.
As the fans stood and watched in complete silenceย for a good 10 minutes, Porter rose by himself and wasย taken to the locker room, where he was treated above his left eye with 10 stitches.
That was the good news.
The bad news was that Kentucky forward Ramon Harris laid on the ground for several minutes unable to move. The conscious Harris had to be carried off on a stretcher and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Fortunately, it was later reported that Harris was awake and moving in the hospital, and everything now seems to be fine.
More good news is that the rest of Rupp Arena was fine as well. The Wildcats blasted the Cardinals the rest of the way on a 103-61 rout of Lamar. Led by Patterson's career high 31 points, the Cats had three other players in double figures.
One of these players for Kentucky was DeAndre Liggins. Redemption. Just five days removed from a little controversy in Las Vegas, where Liggins refused to go in the second half, No. 34 finally proved why Gillispie should consider starting the young man.
Following an inspiring second half where Liggins led Kentucky to a comeback victory over West Virginia, the Kentucky player was nearly flawless tonight. Going six for six from the floor and scoring his career high of 16 points, Liggins' performance was fantastic.
Adding to his 16 points was his outstanding guard play in which he only gave up two turnovers while dishing outย fourย assists and grabbing seven rebounds.
This game may have been against Lamar, but you have to take what you can get, and Liggins took a lot. Hopefully, this game will be a confidence builder for Liggins and the rest of the team. Maybe, just maybe, this team is getting better.
Maybe, just maybe, DeAndre Liggins is maturing.
