My WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2009

Demetrus StokesAnalyst IDecember 12, 2008

2009 and is almost here and it officially begins one of my favorite times of year, the road to Wrestlemania!  Wrestlemania weekend also means that a new class will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.  While there have been rumors of who will be inducted the announcements are usually not made official until the weeks preceding Wrestlemania.  Here is a list of some wrestling greats who I think deserve a spot in this year's class.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage

If we did a HOF ballot among the community members on B/R I bet this guy would be a first ballot hall of famer.  Randy Savage is one of the greatest in ring performers in the history of wrestling.  He is a two time WWF Champion and one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all-time.

He's had memorable feuds against the likes of Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan.  His match with Steamboat at Wrestlemania III is regarded as one of the greatest matches ever.  Simply put the Macho Man should have been inducted years ago but he's been snubbed year after year.  He should be a 2009 inductee.  OOOOHHHH YEEAHHHHHH!

Road Warriors Animal and Hawk

UHHHHHH....What A Rush!  It would indeed be a rush to see Animal and Hawk inducted in the 2009 hall of fame class.  Considered by many as the greatest tag team of all-time, the Road Warriors are more than deserving of the honor. Winners of the NWA tag titles and the WWF tag team titles twice, they should be in.

"Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase

When you hear the diabolic laugh you know it's the "Million Dollar Man".  In my opinion he was one of the top heels in the '80s and early '90s.  It's a shame that he never won the WWF Championship.  He was a three time WWF Tag Champion with I.R.S. and had a belt (Million Dollar Championship) much cooler than the WWF Championship.  Everybody had a price in DiBiase's opinion and he is deserving of the ultimate prize.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Never really a main-event caliber performing in his WWF/WWE career, Jake Roberts was still one of the most popular wrestlers in the history of the company.  He was one of the few performers who was effective as a heel or face.  For good measure the WWE should induct Damien as well.  Would he be the first animal inducted in the Hall of Fame??

Though they were created as a Road Warrior "knockoff", Demolition consisting of Ax and Smash (and later Crush) were one of the dominate tag teams in the late 80's and early '90s.  They were three time Tag team Champions at a time where the tag team division was at it's best.

Owen Hart

1994 King of The Ring, four time Tag Champion, two time IC Champion, European Champion, and we can't forget the two Slammy's.  Owen Hart wasn't as popular as his brother Bret but he had a great career in the WWE and deserves the honor of being in the Hall of Fame along side him.

Ultimate Warrior

Now of course I know this won't happen but doesn't the Warrior deserve a nod?  He wasn't the best wrestler but he was charismatic and full of energy.  He really gave Hogan a run for his money as the No. 1 face during his run, at a time when you thought no one could come even close.

Miss Elizabeth

She put the "valet" on the map.  She is an O.D. (original diva).  When you think of the "Macho Man" Randy Savage you think of this beautiful woman walking him down the isle.  It's a shame that her life ended so tragically.  Though she never wrestled in a WWE ring, her impact led to evolution of the divas we see today.

What do you think of my 2009 class?  Who else is missing?  Feel free to throw me a comment.
