Just a few months ago, one of the most entertaining storylines in the entire industry was produced as a result of CM Punk legitimately being upset with WWE for underutilizing him. But is that still happening?
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past couple of months, CM Punk was involved in the hottest storyline that WWE has produced in many years. It began with a very well-executed semi-shoot promo by Punk.
When watching the episodes of Raw following the shoot, it became very evident that WWE had finally created a huge new main event player. Not only that, but it seemed as if WWE was willing to properly push CM Punk into the main event scene and give him some creative freedom.
Things started slowly going downhill after the infamous 2011 Money in the Bank PPV. Punk successfully captured the WWE title, and many fans were rejoicing.
After the PPV, WWE started tweaking Punk's character again, and he was also brought back on television far too early. The main problem, however, was that WWE took the world title off of him way too fast.
Once CM Punk had captured the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank, he should've held onto the strap for the next four to six months. His win felt like an era-defining moment. But to our dismay, Punk lost the title very quickly to Alberto Del Rio.
It's no shocker that Punk's popularity would probably be even higher than it currently is if WWE had allowed him to retain the title for the better part of this year.
He's currently embroiled in a feud with the heavily-pushed Alberto Del Rio. The feud is very stale to say the least, and the fact that the WWE audience just simply does not seem to care about Alberto does not help this rivalry at all.
It's great to finally be able to see CM Punk in the main event scene, but it honestly feels as if the company is still holding him down. Some decisions made by WWE regarding Punk have been very questionable.
