Cory Cooperwood is a 6'6" forward out of Wallace State who has improved dramatically since leaving his high school, Riverview High, in Searcy, Arkansas.
Cooperwood is a JUCO athlete, but is worth the scholarship.
He is only 6'6 maybe 6'7 He is getting 16 points a game, eight rebounds, 69 percent from the charity stripe, two assists, and 52 percent from the field.

In high-school, Cooperwood advanced to the Arkansas 3-A Final Four in his senior season, but failed to capture a state championship.
The Riverveiw Raiders won state the next year with his former teammate at Wallace State Tony Hall. Tony dropped out a few weeks ago.
I didn’t attend the high school at the same time as this big fella, but he is a beast up close. I see him at school all the time as he visits and each time I see him he is bigger.
Cooperwood hits the weight room, and hits it hard. He is a great team player, and can stay out of trouble off the court.
I think he would make a good player for any college team in the nation, Arkansas in particular. Coopoerwood can fit there style of play to. Even though he is big, he is fast and can run the court.
The Hogs are losing Darian Towns, Charles Thomas, and Steven Hill this year. All three of them are starters in the front court for the Razorbacks.
Cooperwood has expressed interest in the Hogs to all of his friends and family, making it clear he wants to play for head coach Pelphry.

Glad to read in the Dayton Daily News that you've made a solid verbal committment to Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. You should be able to step right in and take the departed Scotty Wilson's place in the lineup. WSU should have a tremendous team next year, and from all that I've read about you, you will certainly make a strong team even stronger.

The writing in this story is pretty bad. The Hogs "is" losing Towns, Thomas and Hill? Wow, that is pretty third-grade ghetto out of you. Referring to the player by his first name? And no way he's actually 6-9.

Well "balls", since you are an expert, Cooperwood played for my younger brother at Wallace State and he is only 6'7 at the best and that is with shoes on. He is going to Wright St. and has a great chance to be playing in the NCAA Tournament next season as Wright is one of the favorites to win their conference.
Cory got to college and decided that he was going to do everything it took to prove to every coach in D1 that he was good enough to play big time basketball. He stayed in the weight room every free chance he got. He started drinking protein shakes, eating well, and learning how to better himself physically. He really hoped that his former teammate Tony Hall would come to Wallace St. and do the exact same thing. However, Tony was just the opposite to put it nicely. Cory said that he wasn't going to get mixed up in all of that and just do his own thing, and that he did. He is one of the very few in the history of D1 JUCO to make 1st Team all-American in both his Fresh and Soph seasons. He was named Alabama College Athlete of the Year his freshman year and Conference Player of the year both seasons as well. He earned tons of honors in the past 2 seasons including his diploma from Wallace St. Community College this month. As he received his diploma and was greated by his coaches, he said "I am the happiest colored man on the planet today!"
Cory is a class act and anyone that gets to encounter him in life will be blessed to get to know him.
