Another day, another in-season tournament is here to deliver excitement and high-scoring play in the 2011 Cancun Challenge.
The US portion of the tournament is through, which means a few special teams get to live like royalty as they stay at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun and play the final leg of this tournament.
The open of the NCAA season proved once again that anything can happen and any team can be on the losing end of a final score.
Keep that in mind as some marquee teams such as Illinois, Richmond and Rutgers take on some very hungry programs. Let's delve deeper into this clash of uptempo basketball squads.
When: Nov. 22-23
Where: Cancun, Mexico
Watch: CBS Sports Network
Participating Teams: Illinois, Illinois State, Richmond, Rutgers, Hampton, Lipscomb, Sacred Heart, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville
Format: The tournament features eight Division I teams broken into two divisions (Riviera and Mayan). Eight games are played in the U.S., where the four teams in the Riviera Division host the four schools in the Mayan Division.
The eight teams then travel to a paradise of sorts to play two games. There is nothing like playing a little hoops in Cancun as the weather gets cold everywhere else.
