Major Changes Coming for SNY

Phil HoopsCorrespondent IDecember 26, 2008

Bob Raissman, at the Daily News is reporting that SNY programming will have a facelift following the New Year.

SNY original, Chris Cotter, will be leaving the network and will join the Fox Business Channel.

According to Cotter, he intended to remain at SNY; however, contract talks reached an "impasse."

Jonas Schwartz, who has been with the network since 2007, will take over Cotter's duties on Daily News Live.

Another familiar face that will be departing is Matt Yallof, who has handled the pre and postgame duties for the past few years.

Yallof, another SNY original, will be replaced by Chris Carlin (Who currently hosts the SNY shows Loudmouths and Beer Money).

Kenny Choi, who hosts SportsNite, will be replaced by newcomer Michelle Yu.

Finally, SNY will not retain analyst Lee Mazzilli, who will likely be replaced with former Mets pitcher, Bobby Ojeda.

Personally, I will miss Chris Cotter and Matt Yallof the most, as I feel they have a great deal of potential (especially Cotter). Thankfully, however, the network has not broken up Gary, Keith, and Ron, whom I feel are the one of the best announcing teams in the business.
