Mr. Murphy was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981, to Douglas and Susan Murphy. Mr. Murphy grew up in Atlanta along with his older sister and younger brother. As a young boy, Mr. Murphy enjoyed participating in sports, playing video games, and telling ghost stories. A bright but easily distracted young man, Mr. Murphy attended the prestigious Westminster School as a child and adolescent. It was at Westminster during his 7th and 8th grade that Mr. Murphy played football; an experience that remains one of his most cherished. School was increasing difficult for Mr. Murphy, however, and he left Westminster during his 8th grade school year. After completing a 9 week course at Aspen Achievement Academy in Loa, Utah, Mr. Murphy spent a semester at St. Paul's Academy in Phoenix, Arizona before returning home to Georgia. He finished his freshman year at St. Francis in Roswell and then attended Wesleyan in Alpharetta for his sophomore year of school. On July 1st of 1998, Mr. Murphy began his time at Rocky Mountain Academy in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He returned to Atlanta in August of 1999 and enrolled at North Atlanta High School. He graduated high school the following June in the year 2000 and began working towards a college degree at Truett McConnell College in Watkinsville, Georgia. Mr. Murphy lived in the nearby town of Athens while attending classes in Watkinsville until January of 2002 at which time he left to attend class at the TMC campus located in Cleveland, GA. In August of 2002, Mr. Murphy moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he continued to work on his degree at Butler University. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Murphy returned to Georgia, and after taking a year off from college, he enrolled at Kennesaw State University. Mr. Murphy currently resides in Kennesaw, Georgia, where he continues to work towards the ever elusive goal of earning a bachelor's degree in English. He hopes to graduate sometime in 2008 and begin pursuing a career covering sports.
