Jon's Bio

Jon is a graduate student working on his Masters Degree in writing. He is a fan of all sports Minnesotan, but ranks mixed martial arts as his favorite sport. He was a late bloomer to MMA, not really getting into the sport until the Tito/Shamrock feud began, but doesn't really feel like he missed much leading up to all the ado.

Depending on what article you read, Jon is between 5'4"-6'8", between 120-320 pounds and may or may not be a member of the Communist party. He is single/married/divorced/widowed and enjoys drinking in the dark.

Jon is also the first winner of the Bleacher Report Humor Bowl, which he attributes either to not being held enough by his mother, or a little too much by his "uncle".

  4. what do you think the odds are of Tito coming into the cage and calling out Kimbo tonight after they remove Shamrock on the stretcher?

After reading that Tito is close to signing with them it just seems like a WWE move waiting to happen. Tito is sitting ringside providing guest commentary, Kimbo ko's ken, then Tito steps into the cage and says Kimbo only beat Ken because Tito softened him up with his beatdowns years ago.

I could be wrong, but this is EliteXC I'm talking about here.

  5. I second Jeremy's motion.

  6. Is there any possibility of the MMA section getting a ranking system like college football has? I think it would be pretty interesting to allow the entire community to vote on every division, perhaps on a weekly basis.

  7. Hey Jon - Any chance you would chat for the piece?

  10. Hey Jon - In response to your question - The piece examines why the UFC succeeded where so many other MMA organizations failed.

Every new league has a awkward phase where they try and introduce the complexities of their sport to a mass audience. I am particularly interested in the role of TUF played in attracting the casual fan to the UFC.

I also want to chat about Brock Lesnar and the audience overlap between professional wrestling and MMA.

Hope to hear from you, Ben
