Long's Bio

Hi - Am Long J. Silver, I love writing, learning and cooking Italian food. I study energy - economics for a living. Alex Zander (Captain Z) got me hooked to Bleachers ... and it has been a perfect medium for me to express my thoughts on sports. A special thanks to Jeff Gorman too, for consistently editing my pieces with time, you have been of immense help mate, thanks to both Captain Z and Jeff !

A long day ... tired, I write most of my pieces in here sitting by the 3rd floor balcony (at present) in Chicago, with vodka on the rocks and Nirvana mtv-unplugged on the speakers at home.

Kurdt Cobain (yes - it is Kurdt, thats what he calls himself in his journals) is quite frankly one of the most talented strummers and lead vocal of his generation. Love mtv-unplugged, every line, can do a rendition backwards. A left centrist political perspective and a southpaw ... he is incredibly conciliatory during each time, every time ... all the time

Love 'Jesus dont wann me for a sunbeam' ... and 'I think am dumb'

'I am not like them, but I can pretend;
The sun is gone, but I have a lite;
My heart is broke, but I have some glue ...
let me sit here and mend it with you ...
Cos I think am dumb;
I think am dumb;
I think am dumb;

'Nirvana' - I think am Dumb

(I think Kurt Donald Cobain is lovely ... I love 'I think am Dumb')

Cheers Mate -

  1. Hey L(J)S,

    My apologies if I've asked you this before...but any interest in starting a Weekly Round Table, where you publish the opinions of the Golf writers on major issues in the sport collectively?

    Here are some examples of Round Tables from other Communities:

    Let me know thoughts. Thanks as always,

    CaptZ

  2. Exactly L(J)S...it's a phrase from the old video game NBA Jam as a matter of fact...

    Z

  3. And yes, I do know that Phelps was a Wolverine. I actually attended the Michigan/Michigan State 3OT game in Ann Arbor back in 04' and met him out at a party...nice guy.

    Z

  4. I'll drink a beer for you tonight dude. Congrats!

    The Captain

    Thanks,

    Ben

  7. Please add your input! I'm looking to make the RBAR section a big section too...

  8. Hey there Long,

    Sorry I haven't been responding a whole lot to you (or anyone else for that matter), it's been a hectic week! I thought that after my final, life would slow down and I could enjoy it, but there's no rest for the weary I tell ya!

    Also, for the insertion of pictures into articles, you got me stumped! Did you find out by any chance?

    Also, check out some of my Red Bull Air Race articles and give me your take on this sport. Thanks so much for your comments and replies my friend, apologies for my tardiness

    Sheiban

  9. Vera Zvonereva. Now 0-5, 0-30. I think she has won one point on her serve in the match and four on Zvonereva's. Now 0-5, 0-40. Game, Set.

    Seriously, embarrassing. Russia Gold, Silver, Bronze in tennis? Seems fitting.

  10. Thanks for the vote.

    If your keyboard can take it, do you think Li Na will last 30 minutes in her bronze medal match? She's already down 4-0 after 10 minutes. I feel like an Olympic record might be upon us.

  11. Well, she did it once. Emmons has now done it in the same event two Olympics in a row! First he shot the other guy's target; now he barely hits his. Read my article on Phelps if you have not already. It sums my position up succinctly. The only problem is no matter what I do, it doubles the article and has it in there twice. I can't fix it.

  12. Did you see Matthew Emmons in shooting? His choke makes Jean van de Velde and Jana Novotna look stellar. All he needed heading into his final shot was a 7.6 to clinch gold and he got a 4.4. 4.4! He choked a gold over to China. If the U.S. loses by one gold, I am blaming him. This is the same guy who shot the wrong target in 2004 on the final shot with an insurmountable lead. What a choke artist.

  13. You're very welcome:)
    I read your bio....seems we have a bit in common.. :) I knew you were a good guy from the start. After seeing you like Nirvana it just proved even more you were awesome :) Best wishes,
    Britt

  14. He burnt out....clear as day.

    Oh well maybe he can take a few weeks and come back stronger in NY but we shall see. Maybe he'll surprise us :P

    He'll have my full support as always.

  15. Then again, you like Schumi, so I guess we were already at odds there!
