I'm a 21 year old student at the University of Maryland, studying criminology and criminal justice.
I've been asked many times, "Tits, why are you so European and always hating on American sports?" Au contraire mes amis.
First, I've played soccer/football since I was 5, and it's still my favorite sport to play and watch. Nothing makes me go crazier than the ultimate goal, the sick fingertip save that goes off the crossbar, or the stepover nutmeg that makes defenders cry.
Over the past couple of years, I've developed a deep love for rugby in both of its forms. I started playing rugby sevens this summer for Rocky Gorge RFC and currently play the usual 15-a-side rugby for Gorge and for the Terps club team.
In response to the unAmerican claims against me, I am an avid Baltimore Ravens and Maryland Terrapins fan. I watch Sportscenter everyday, even though ESPN is run by people that couldn't give less of a crap about sports. I always wonder what could have been had I played football; alas the world will never know.
In closing, go Terps, and FSM bless you.
Hey Matt, I noticed you posted a comment about finding Celtic fans in DC. Did you know there is a Celtic Supporters Club there?
Thought it might be of use to you if you weren't familiar. http://www.dccsc.com/
Yeah, I picked Pele over Maradona after going through a grueling selection process.
Have I heard of Pele? Yes
Have I heard of Maradona? No
Game, set, match: Pele
