The Author, Dan Boone made a poor choice in his attempt with humor with his remarks on UCLA In his terrible 10 colum. The whole Mormon - wives thing. Dan, what??? I think your are either stretching too hard trying to be funny. Or you are a bigot. Or both. Man, one more flop like that and I'd say you need to find a different job/hobby. Writing, thinking and humor are not your strong points. Moreover, you show a blatant character flaw trying to draw Mormonism into UCLA and football. What are you thinking Dan! Dude, are you drunk?

I'll get to the gambling piece right away.

As for Newman, I remember the piece, I thought it was a great tribute. However, I have no control over the placement of articles. You can bring it up with Zander or Alberti, but I'm not sure how much they can do either. Sorry.

Hey Dan,

We've generally found that writers have a lot more success at obtaining press passes when they take the initiative themselves, vs. us trying to obtain them in your name...we're happy to help as much as we can however.

Do you happen to know the league that is promoting the event? Hope that doesn't sound like a stupid question...I'd recommend checking out their website and seeing if there's a place where you can apply for press passes.

Great idea for a piece Dan. I really enjoyed it. I grew up watching Slap Shot, immortalizing the Hanson Brothers. I still have my Chiefs jersey in my closet, which I break out on Halloween.

On a unrelated side note: I just realized that your pic is of a dog. Good heavens! I never paid attention to it before, I just thought it was a bear or some other enormous and deadly animal.

Oh well, keep up the great work!
