  1. Yes, I know a lot about Kurt Angle. I've been a pro wrestling fan for about 25 years, and I started actively covering the business of pro wrestling in the early nineties. The actual business behind the facade of pro wrestling is far more interesting than anything they've ever put on television, and I was drawn to it. From that, I started covering mixed martial arts, and I have exclusively been doing that for a long, long time, both online and in print.

To answer your question, though: yes, I know a lot about Kurt Angle. I've followed him since before he began his 1996 Olympics bid, and have continued to follow him throughout the years. I've seen him go from one of the greatest athletes in the world to a degenerated, drug-addicting liar. It's actually very sad, but that doesn't make it any less true. I probably would not be interested in doing an article like that with Joe, simply because there's only one real pro to Angle coming to MMA, and that is the business aspect. If Nevada would clear him (which it's clear that they won't, but we're talking potential here anyway), Angle would do a massive buyrate for the UFC on his first fight. There's no question about that. He's a superstar and people would definitely tune in to see him fight. But his body wouldn't really allow him more than one fight, and even allowing him to fight that one single time would be pushing it.

He had major neck surgery a few years back; he was supposed to have a couple of vertebrae fused, but instead decided on a experimental non-invasive procedure by a doctor out of Pittsburgh. The downside of that surgery is that it didn't prevent future injuries, only lessened the pain. The upside is that it allowed him to get back in the wrestling ring within a few months instead of the full year it would have taken to rehab from fusion surgery.

The end result is that he's already broken his neck again while wrestling in TNA. So when I say that his neck is hanging by a thread, I mean it is literally hanging by a thread. :-)

I would be interested in doing a co-operative article with someone at some point, but I'd only do it if I know the person on the other side has the ability to see reason and not just answer with the "it's happening whether you like it or not" type of response. It reminds me of children on the playground, taunting with "nah nah nah boo boo" or something of that like. I'd rather stay out of that. :-)

    Thanks again for the comment.

  2. Dorothy, it's not a problem! I love writing, editing and every other facet of the art of putting words on paper. I felt like that second picture of Bobby didn't convey the message you were trying to get across in your article; when a header image doesn't match up with what the writer is trying to convey, the impact of the writing can be lessened because it's not as coherent.

I appreciate your comments a lot, and thank you very much for taking the time to leave me a message on my bulletin board! If you ever need anything at all, please don't hesitate to let me know, either on my bulletin board or on my email at botterATgmail.com.

  3. THANK YOU DEE ..I THOUGHT YOU WOULD ENJOY THE GREAT PRETENDER...LOVE GARTH..

  4. Not sure if you got my note I left you in my article on Gray Maynard. I was saying that if Matt Serra ever gets to fight GSP in Madison Square Garden that I am saving my seat next to you =)

  5. Thanks for the welcome, Dorothy, it's a great place to mooch around on, lots of conflicting opinions, ideas and iewpoints, and without the crap that seems to accompany most MMA forums. Good fun. Might do an article or two, haven't really put much thought into it, yet, but there are a few things I could put down and pad out with a load of nonsensical drivel. :)

  6. Thanks a lot that means a lot. I hope you're right and I hope I achieve my goals of becoming a sports writer. keep in touch.

  7. Thanks, I will see if Tess will do it. Hope you're feeling better.

  8. Dorothy,

  10. Dorothy,

I would never have assumed that you have lost any of your writing abilities. What you have to say is interesting, intelligible, very well put together, and often times detailing comments that I am sure I would say. If you ever have any articles that you would like me to look at, please let me know. I would be happy to.

I am glad that you have started writing again.

    Sincerely,
    Tess
