Marty's Bio

Marty Andrade is a former.

He's a former political activist, former (paid) columnist, former radio talk show host and former former.

Now Marty just wishes to get beyond what he did and get to what he's going to do.

A longtime baseball fan and statistics freak who carries an old school TI-82 calculator wherever he goes, Marty is always ready to perform a regressional analysis while telling people about motivation curves and how they are important.

He's the Bleacher Report's resident Sabermetrician and for that his readers will get no apologies.

He's a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds degrees in Psychology and Philosophy.

All Time Sports Moment

Greatest moment ever has to be Don Larsen's perfect game in the '56 World Series, but the greatest moment I ever seen was watching the Red Sox win the World Series.

Most Memorable Game Attended

Saw Bob Tewksbury's 100th win, several Ken Griffey Jr home runs, the home opener of the 1993 Rockies and saw Cal Ripken play several times. I couldn't name one game as being better among all those, though my first ever baseball game (the Rockies home opener in 1993) ranks pretty close.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Joe Dimaggio's 56 game hitting streak.

Ruth or Mays?

Ruth, May's wasn't a dominant player. He was a better glove than Mantle but Mantle had the better bat. No one came close to Ruth during his peak years.

Unitas or Montana?

Montana

Pele or Maradona?

Pele

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Big 10, how can there be debate on this?

  1. Hey Twins fans! I've been noticing a huge decrease in contributions to the Twin's Whatnot. I'm not getting after anyone (like I even can :D) , but I want a few suggestions as to changes that can be made.

Please tell me what can be done to improve the section. Should we re-name it? What can be done to make it more attractive to people? Also, I want to confirm that you are actually receiving the questions every Saturday.

Is this the e-mail you would prefer me to send them to? Is there a typo in the email address?

    marty.andrade@gmail.com

    Thanks much!

    ~Andrew

  2. Power Rankings are up! Thanks again and enjoy!

  3. Marty,

Thanks for your answers in the latest Twin's Whatnot. I posted it...*cough* a day late *cough*...sorry.

  4. I have tried to alter the Secondary Average formula I did the article on so it would better encompass the hitter as a whole. I have had the help of "ramssuperbowl99" on the forum, Footballs Future, and I think we may have something.

    Altered SecA = TB - H + BB + [3/2(SB - CS)] + (RC/G) / AB + (BB/2) + (100*SO%)

It just crunches everything a person needs to know about a hitter when talking fantasy games: slugging, steals, hits, SO rate, run production.

    What do you think?

  5. Thanks for the great answers in the latest Twin's Whatnot.

  11. Hey Marty,

I am going to copy JJ Stankevitz's idea and host a Minnesota Twin's community question and answer session. I will try to get the questions to you by Thursday or Friday, and I will compile and post the article by Monday on every week.

If you would like to be a part of this, either shoot me an e-mail (andymacky_999@hotmail.com), or post a note on my bulletin board.

    Thanks in advance!

  13. Hey Marty, sorry for the delay on the Power Rankings stuff, I have it ready but am busy with tons of stuff for BR, Seamheads.com among others. I also think this will be better served as a monthly rankings anyway. I'll need an email address to send the details, if you don't want to post it, just send me it to me at m_taylor13@yahoo.com. I plan to get this ranking out May 1st. Thanks!

  14. Greatest Rivalry of All Time. What's your take? Fill it in on the "Sports Rivalries of all time" column. Hope to hear from you soon.

  15. Great, I will sending details soon. Working on doing an online form that we will enter votes into. I am looking at a bi-weekly type column. We would vote on ranking of teams 1-30, AL/NL MVP, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year's. I will tally up totals and present a cumulative overview of all MLB community leaders. If you have any other suggestions feel free to let me know, I am welcome to add/remove topics. Thanks again for participating.
