Dave is a lifelong sports fan, burrito connoisseur, and founder of Bleacher Report. Growing up in Northern California, Dave became an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants, the San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and San Jose Sharks. He played high school football for the division champion Menlo Knights but retired after two concussions as a 160 lb defensive end.

Dave matriculated at the University of Southern California around the same time Pete Carroll started coaching, and soon thereafter the Trojans won multiple National Championships. However, Carroll and the Trojans haven't won any championships since Dave graduated. Coincidence?

Dave's many brushes with greatness include taking an improv acting class with Mike Williams, Frostee Rucker, and Steve Smith, multiple run-ins with Ted Danson, partying with "Superfreak" Rick James, and an ongoing feud with former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Brady Anderson. He plans to reveal the details of said sordid affair in his upcoming tell-all book "Water-Drinker: The Brady Anderson Story".

Dave started Bleacher Report because he believes that fans are the most qualified group to analyze their teams because of their unmatched passion and immense knowledge. He is thrilled beyond words at how much the site has grown, and loves reading analysis on his favorite teams by all the Bleacher Report writers that cover them.

Hey Dave, I was wondering about the photo selection of the site and if we have permission to use copyrighted pictures off wires, like from the AP or Getty. Even if we do, the passwords I know on how to get into the sites come from the internship I worked at and I probably don't even have permission to use those.

I just ask because I think it would be cool to use in-game pictures for some of the game stories, especially if you want to get pictures of players from both teams in the image. I'm just unsure as to what BR's capabilities are...

Thanks Dave! By the way, this is an awesome site...just the right thing that I've been looking for.

I was able to cover Spring Training after telling my former supervisors at ESPN Radio here in Memphis that I was headed down there. It's a long story, but I was headed down there as a fan with my dad, but at the last minute he couldn't go. I was determined to go by myself anyway and just looked at it as an opportunity for experience. The guys at ESPN Radio hooked me up with a media pass and voila...the rest is history. It was pretty awesome! I also wrote Spring Training updates at cardinalsdiaspora.com (my blog name is Rhodes Scholar) and am going to continue regular posts whenever school calms down.

Colby is a pretty cool guy, and I'm looking forward to chatting with him some more since he is in Memphis with the Triple-A affiliate of the Cards.

I was trolling through the site when I should be in bed (as usual) when I came across a new member "khg dfgh" who wrote an article called "Friggin Batman". It's absolute nonsense, might be spam or just somebody with far too much time on their hands. But the person's been a member for about an hour and has posted the same jibberish article a couple times. Just wanted to give you a heads up incase it was some sort of spam program... It'd be a shame to see stuff like this popping up on such a solid site.

Sweet...Zander and I communicate with each other all the time. He kept me interested and has helped me stay active, even when I was dormant. It really is a great platform for 'fan based input' and what I love about you guy's is your passion. Question: You know what is so cool about the website? - Answer: All the articles written will appear on other selected websites. All of my Nascar articles end-up being advertised as coming from BR and are published on Nascar affiliated websites - same with my Maple Leaf articles.

So that is the exposure that we are all after and what you have talked about on-line. You just have to Google your name and see where all your BR articles end up. Pretty powerful medium - don't we know it!

Hey! Thanks for the article read.
I completely agree with you, since the trade deadline the Sharks have been a winning machine. Drew Remenda said in an interview that Marleau had mono early in the season, but now the Sharks camp and Drew himself are denying it. So, I'm assuming that's why Marleau may have been in a funk---and I'm sure the trade rumors didn't help at all.

We'll see how they play tomorrow though, the Wild's a good hockey team.

This is a great site. My brother and I had a similar idea back in the late '90's for a site like this, and we got pretty far with it. The funding sources, however, did not see the power of the net and its potential benefits. You know ROE is king.

I completely agree, Dave—Mike Nolan is the coward in this situation. The Yorks have let him basically run the franchise into the ground, yet he wants to blame everyone else for their failure, including his first round draft pick (who just two years ago was his prized possesion). Please, Nolan...grow up man.

Niner fans should create bracelets or shirts that say, "What Would Bill (Walsh) Do?" and give them to Nolan to remind him how to handle situations.

Thank you for the attribution in your latest Hawaii column. I'm glad that you at least have class when it comes to admitting that Hawaii was the better team at the end of the year. I tell you what though. I was happy when I saw the AP Poll and saw that 1 in parentheses next to Hawaii's name. Bout time they got a 1st place vote. I think that the WAC needs to be included as a BCS conference. 2 BCS teams in 2 years and both were undefeated (albeit Hawaii has one more to play). Good job on that article though.
