Award-winning professional journalist Javier Morales, a Tucson, Ariz., native, has provided commentary and written about sports for almost three decades. Morales, 46, reported for The Arizona Daily Star for 13 years and the Arizona Republic for one before leaving the newspaper business. During his time at the Star, he covered Arizona athletics, including work as the beat reporter for the Wildcats’ men’s basketball team that won the 1996-97 national championship. His form of writing and reporting is presently through blogs and freelance work. He recently placed first for the Arizona Press Club metro sports reporting award category. He resides in Henderson, Nevada, with his 9-year-old daughter Mackenzie.
