2001 Seattle Mariners 157 692 127 242 34 8 8 69 316 30 53 56 14 .381 .457 .350
See this line? That was Ichiro's MVP season. The 69 in the middle is his RBI total. Pedoria is the 80s maybe 90s by now.
More recently Jimmy Rollins won the NL MVP last season with under 100 RBI
2007 Philadelphia Phillies 162 716 139 212 38 20 30 94 380 49 85 41 6 .344 .531 .296
So you don't need 100 RBI to win MVP. Pedroia is having an amazing season and is contention for the award.

Man, you do your homework on these Monday/Thursday matchups! I should take you up on some of your suggestions in my battle for eighth place! Like Chad said, you've found a good niche and a way to provide consistent contributions to B/R.

In a move that I didn't see coming, the MBC has decreed "3-for-5" to be the preferred style from henceforth. We'll get it added to the style guide ASAP. Thanks pointing that one out Shaun.

I've asked the Man Behind the Curtain which he prefers. I try to go with "3-5" because it's cleaner; but if people prefer the word "for" in the middle, then it should all be words, "three for five," or, "he had a three-for-five night." Once he gets back to me, I'll let you know.
Thanks for staying up on the details! They make everything better in the end.

Shaun, check out ESPN.com's player pages and you can get a general idea how widely owned a player is in ESPN standard leagues. I pay for a couple premium services that I can certainly put you on to if you're interested in that kind of data.
As far as Josh Johnson, I called him out one day and not the next. I liked him as a start, but decided I liked other guys better. There are three or four of us that contribute to our daily stuff when it comes to picking spot starters, so we each tend to pick one that we like the most.

Hey Shaun,
Here are the answers to your questions:
1) Only assign player tags to major stars if the article is about that player in particular. For lesser known paragraphs, having a few paragraphs in there is adequate.
If you literally just mention a player's name, please don't tag your article with him.
2) Please make sure and tag any fantasy sports articles you write with "Fantasy." Everything will then be alright =)
Let me know if you need further clarification. Thanks so much Shaun!

11-10 buddy. Hah! LOL!

The "fantasy" tag issue was a misunderstanding on my part, so I thank you for pointing that out to me and assure that it will be taken care of in the future.
In terms of the players, and teams, we still only use specific tags if the article is about that specific player or team. Once it becomes a list or a rundown of multiple teams and multiple players, it no longer receives specific players or team tags.
Thanks again for pointing that out to me, and don't hesitate to let me know of any other questions or comments.

No a problem, I enjoyed your piece. And as the author you have the final say over the headline.
But for the tags, we go with the policy of less is more. We really focus on concision for the tags because they are the basis for organizing the entire site, and when an article has more tags than are necessary, that risks putting the article somewhere on the site where it doesn't belong, and consequentially taking away from the experience for someone else.
Taking your piece, for example. It's about fantasy baseball management. You mention the Cardinals and Mr. La Russa, but the article isn't really about them, it merely mentions them and cites them as examples.
But with the article tagged with their names, someone who comes onto the site looking for Cardinals information will be shown this article, and it's not what they're looking for.
I hope this makes sense, and if you have any other questions or comments at all, again, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Have a great day!
