Maire's Bio

Hi folks,
I am Mary, proud Co-Community Leader of the Arsenal Community with Shyam.

Together I hope we can mimic our beloved team - be stylish, creative and loved all over the world.

There are many Arsenal series for all you Gooners to get involved in including: "Arsenal In..." where Gooners from all over the world tell us what Arsenal mean to their respective countries, "Arsenal: Where Are They Now?" where Shyam looks at where past Arsenal players are, "Arsenal Legends" with Joe Guarr and "Arsenal Ladies" where I keep everyone up to date with all the goings on with the Arsenal Ladies.

Any other suggestions and comments are greatly welcome.

As for me, it is so surprise that I am a proud Arsenal fan and have been for 14 years. It feels a bit strange to know that I have witnessed Arsenal play under three managers - George Graham, Bruce Rioch and Arsene Wenger - and yet I am only 22.

Although a passionate Gooner, my favourite player by a clear mile is Paolo Maldini. Legend is an understatement.

Because of Maldini I have supported AC Milan for nearly 17 years now and I also suffer from that Irish illness of having a soft spot for Glasgow Celtic. I also believe that Giovanni Trapattoni will take the Rep.Ireland to the promised land of the World Cup.

Other than that I enjoy GAA, Rugby Union, Golf, Tennis, Moto Gp and Formula 1 amongst others.

Munster Rugby Union are a class apart. To the "second team" that put it up to the All-Blacks on Tuesday 19th November 2008, I applaud you - heroes to the last. Dougie, Rua, Jeremy and Lifemi gave us an image we will never forget as they "Haka" back - New Zealand born but Munster men all. To the brave and faithful, nothing is impossible.

If you like what I write please tell me, if you hate what I write please tell me.

Football is all very well a good game for rough girls, but not for delicate boys.

  1. For your sake, let's hope that the kids do well against Burnley!

  2. Hey Mary,

And Another Thing... is back — with a David Beckham special!

If you get the time, please have a read — and feel free to tell me whether I am right, wrong, or just a complete idiot!!

    Alex

  3. I didn't watch the match Mary. They didn't telecast it here - am grateful for that as well.

I don't really know anything about the match, because we didn't have electricity all night.. I've only got power now.. so, I only know that we lost.. 3-0?

Nothing surprising to me to be honest.. we're all over the place right now.

  4. Derby d'Italia Player Ratings

  5. I'll be on the lookout for you in Dublin Airport. I work there.

Jaysus, there must be something better than X-Factor on. Turn on Wales and the All Blacks, great stuff.

  6. don't be so dejected Mary O'Shea.

You're young, it's Saturday night and there must still be a few Kiwi's floating around Limerick. So go out and have a good night.

Anyway Spurs might win tomorrow so the race for 4th is on.....ah ya gotta love us.

  7. Hey Maire,

Its back to attempts at humour for me! This time , it's not supposed to be funny though! I'm being serious, okay?

    I think. that ...
Steven Gerrard and I have a lot in common!
    ...We do!

    tell me what you think!

    cheers

  8. Hi Mary,

I've written a piece about the MLS and the upcoming final, more an editorial than a preview. Would you take a look at it and let me know what you think?

    Thanks,

    Willie

  9. Hey,

What's going on over at Arsenal?! Is Gallas right or wrong with his comments? Does he deserve his captaincy stripped? Join the great debate! This one is about the whole Arsenal 'crisis', so if you have any views whatsoever on them, check it out!

    Cheers,

  10. Who got the better end of the deal. Arsenal or Chelsea? Be sure to read it and leave a comment.

  11. Ha — now I reckon I can work out your full name. No one can fool Alex Dimond!

Glad to see that you haven't been at all annoyed by the recent events surrounding your club.

Almunia as captain — sounds like a cop-out to me.

  12. Hi Mary,

Do you fancy contributing to the B/R European Club Rankings? I can't believe you haven't been involved before — as a result I'll even let you rank Arsenal 1st!

If you would like to help out, leave your email on my bulletin board and I will send you an email with further details. If not, no worries!

  13. Don't worry about nobody reading it, some of my best articles only get 200 or so reads. You'd be surprised about the Munster match, apart from the sportsmanship which was a joy to behold it was an emotional night. I was genuinely choked up with pride when I saw the 4 Munster lads doing the Haka. One of the best sporting moments I've ever witnessed.

  14. Not a problem, Maire! I live to serve...

  15. Hey Maire

Juventus take on Inter this Saturday in the season's first Derby d'Italia. The rivalry between the teams are more fierce than ever and the outcome could go either way. Have a look and leave a comment if you wish:
