Mike's Bio
Freshman in college, I come from Oil City, Pennsylvania. Football is a big part of my life. In high school, I played in 9th grade. When I didn't start when I thought I should have, and because I didn't like the varsity coach, I decided not to play the following year. Instead I went to all of the games the Varsity and the JV teams had and cheered for our school. Or yelled when I thought the coach called a really dumb play. I always paid attention to the NFL. The Green Bay Packers have been my favorite football team since I was in the 2nd grade. Which at the point (I didn't know it) they had recently just won Super Bowl XXXI the previous year.
I didn't realize that becoming a Packers fan when I was 7 was going to turn into an obsession. Like mentioned before, since I was about 11 I have always paid attention to football. Then the Packers went 4-12. It was a wake up call to me. I started REALLY paying attention to football. So much that I knew what was going on not with just the Packers, but just about EVERY NFL football team. I mean I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but I noticed that just last season in 2007, the Houston Texans who were always seen as a bad team since they were created, went 8-8. That's a .500 record. That is a hell of an improvement for a team of its stature.
The weird part about all of this is, even though since I started getting a little obsessed about football, I decided to go to college for Secondary Education. It was the only other thing I could think of that I liked to do. I like to help people learn, and I'm really good at Math so I decided I'd go try and be a High School Math Teacher. Have I thought about trying to get a degree in sports journalism. Yes, however I know how much of a hard job it is to get.
So I hope by joining this website, I can at least share my views, opinions, and as I like to call knowledgeable information towards the sport of football. And before anybody asks me, yes, I do find it a little absurd that Brett Favre now plays for he New York Jets and not the Green Bay Packers. However, I also wish Favre the best of luck as he has and always will be my favorite football player.
You can expect me to be making a lot of reviews and predictions. I like to predict the NFL season through out the week. So every week I will try to have an in-depth prediction of who's going to win and who will lose.
Also, I'm sure some of you know who Michael Silver is. He has an article for Yahoo! Sports called '32 Questions'. I might try to do that some time every now and then. Unlike him, it wont be every week.

Excellent points. Nothing wrong with good, intelligent, passionate, fierce debate.
Who knows? Maybe our teams will see each other down the road again this season in a do-or-die situation. If that time comes around, we'll go at each others throats again! :)

My man, take a chill pill.
Going down ANY team's schedule with a game-by-game breakdown of who they beat and why is an exercise in futility because, alas, they all play in the same league.
So no, no points for the generic fan breakdown of who-played-who nonsense. As I argue in one of my articles, the margin between wins-losses in the NFL is ever so slight. The teams that play in Jan win tight games, the bad teams don't.
How many games did the Pack lose that they probably shouldn't have just this season?? That's the difference between my team and yours at this point in time. The Giants are winning those games. The Pack won those previously.
Nope, I never said the Giants were the '80s 49ers or '90s Cowboys. Brett's got one ring. Eli's got one ring. Eli has a better shot of winning some more. Don't cry over that. Not my fault. But, you're right, as Michael Jordan said, one ring is just being lucky.
As for Favre, I respect him, but sorry, the whole media circus and seeing live shots of him in his jet touching down in Wisconsin, having a 'Favre' along the other sports on the ESPN scroll, just grated my nerves. Overkill.

Sure the Giants are overrated, whatever, keep being blinded by our Super Bowl bling.

i knew Favre would win this week. U must be happy.
I agree that if Rodgers stays healthy, he'll be pretty good. Keep on the great work.
