I'm a junior at the University of Nebraska, majoring in news-editorial journalism with an emphasis on sports writing/editing. I'm on the sports desk of the Daily Nebraskan, the campus paper. I'd like to one day write for The Oklahoman (and turn the pape to national prestige) and get big enough to work for ESPN.

Westboro Baptist has been protesting at Nebraska games this season, condemning the state with claims that Memorial Stadium is a temple for the worship of its gods, the Huskers. This caused me to think: If sports is my religion and athletes are my gods, I must be a monk.

Ha. I see I'm not the only one your addicted to reading and annoying about writing more articles. :)

You are definitely right about that. While I would love to see Texas Tech vs. Alabama in the National Championship game I don't know that it will happen. A Big 12 school with their offense against Alabama with their defense and offense could be an interesting game. Honestly, Florida is very much an offensive and defensive team like Alabama which is why I think the SEC Championship game will be such a good one to watch.

I honestly can't remember what all your post said now that I have gotten over here to your board. So I will close in that I am anxiously awaiting your next article. (No doubt about the Huskers I assume). Ha.

Hey, nice to hear from you. Sorry I can't always be there to feed your addiction. Maybe it's time to seek professional help? Haha. Seriously, I've been really busy. I've got a lot of make-up work to catch up on. You see, I'm leaving for Chicago in a couple days for a Model UN conference and then going straight to Tulsa for Thanksgiving. I'm so busy, in fact, that I won't even be able to watch the Sooners smack down Tech this weekend! I'll try to work on something but I probably won't get anywhere until after Thanksgiving. Ha. Monk you have no idea how much I would love to just put everything about Florida to rest. Just to show them up. And, even if we don't beat them, make them really fight for a game. I just hope we show up to play which we have been doing for away games. And we've dominated in the Dome before so hopefully we will be even better this time.

I was at the game last night. It was windy, cold, and RAINING! Haha. My Dad was like "Well why doesn't it just snow?" I started thinking about your article and started laughing. Anyway, your right in that Bama did have a slow first half. I'll be honest I was really getting nervous. Then, JPW and the rest of the team stepped it up in the second half and played really well in the second half which was something I was REALLY happy to see. One thing that didn't waver throughout the game though, was Bama's defense. I was really happy to see them play the game they did. They weren't perfect but they showed what a good defense could really do.

I will stop talking now because I have written a whole book on your page it seems like. Lol. I do know what you mean about the Huskers not winning more than 7 or so games. I never thought Bama would be undefeated at this point. I had hope but realistically I didnt think it would happen. However, I'm all for pleasant surprises. :)

I don't know if you've seen any of my Baylor recaps but I think we have pretty similar writing styles (as far as sports writing anyway; most of my writing is more academic, and usually less interesting, since I am not studying journalism). I actually just watched that as well. I really don't follow one team as much as just the general sport when it comes to the NFL. I follow the player's that came from Alabama and that's about it as far as that goes. Ha.

I have a facebook too. If you type in Cameon Shiflett I'm sure my name will come up. There aren't that many out there if you can believe it. :)

You would be right about that. However, while I am at my best if Alabama wins, if they played the best game they could I'll still be proud of them. And no matter what they might do, I'll always stand behind them. They are my team forever and forever amen. Haha.

I spent all of yesterday watching college football as well. And will spend most of today watching the NFL games just because it's football. Ha. But that's ok. :) Eventually I will have to get up and do laundy though. :( That is something that does not excite me or cause me joy. Haha.

But I understand what you mean. With the Aurburn vs. West Virginia game, besides the fact that I hate Auburn with a passion, the fact that my assistant band director went to West Virginia gave them winning a little extra meaning. :)

Well of course I will remember it but I remember a lot of things that most people would never remember or didn't understand in the first place. But that's ok. :)

I'm glad you have a reason to pull for Bama. Although, a good reason to pull for Bama would be because we are an amazing team with an amazing history and an even brighter future. We have some of the classiest, well mannered fans, and because there really is nothing like Alabama Football. :) I'm slightly biased though. Haha.

And I wouldn't say you really know me. Check out www.myspace.com/cammiewantsu and then you might see a glimpse. You do have the knowledge that I am a huge football fanatic and sports fanatic though, which most people realize in the first ten mintues of talking to me. Haha.

Hey Monk, I tried to post an editor comment on your last piece but it didn't work.

I was saying how you should turn that snow game piece into something for print (if you haven't already). That is something that would work great as a column. See if you cant get your school paper to publish it.

I do have some advice, if you do go that route. Lengthen that baby out! It's got a TON of potential. So many places for elaboration. If you can pull that to about 700 words using the same flow and characteristics within the column already, it would be great.

If you want any pointers or anything, feel free to ask. But definitely work on getting that published.

No problem Monk. I have nothing against the people of Oklahoma City, and I understand the excitement over getting a team. I'll feel the same way if/when Seattle gets another team, which will be taken from some other city... The whole business of the NBA just kind of disgusts me now, and I haven't read any NBA articles since the Sonics left, and don't plan to.

Haha, it's funny that you are so angry that you are now trying to make remarks about my journalism school. You think you are a journalist, yet you call names like "moron" clearly because your team got blown out and Bo and Co. clearly aren't going to "be big" this year. Half of your comments didn't even apply to my writing, and you got personal as well. Very professional man.

According to Wikipedia, the top three schools in the country are Columbia, Northwestern, and Missouri. Nebraska didn't make the top ten. But I'm glad to hear your school is doing well. Thanks again for reading.
