Bryn's Bio

I am the most passionate, obsessed Philadelphia Eagles fan in the entire world. My obsession with the Phillies is almost as extreme as with the Eagles, but if I were forced to pick, I would rather see the Eagles win the Super Bowl than the Phillies win the World Series. (Update: My life has now changed drastically since the Phillies won the World Series.) I own eighteen Philadelphia Eagles jerseys, can tell you from memory the score of every Eagles game in the Donovan McNabb era and I can recall hundreds of totally useless statistics.

Last year, I was privileged to work at Lincoln Financial Field for the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2007 season. As a member of the GameDay Staff, I had the responsibility of overseeing entire sections of the stadium during home games. I witnessed first-hand some memorable moments in Eagles history, such as the 56-21 drubbing of the Detroit Lions, during which the Birds wore their commemorative 75th anniversary jerseys. I stood directly in line for David Akers' 57-yard attempt that hit the crossbar against the New York Giants. I even met David Akers, when, after the 17-7 win versus Miami, he sprinted directly towards me after the game, a huge smile on his face. I stood, awestruck, as he greeted the woman standing two feet to my right, reaching over and taking her son—his son—onto the field for a victory lap.

I am an extremely avid fan of baseball history. I can recite every World Series winner and just about every award winner in the history of baseball. I took an ESPN-administered test on baseball history two years ago and scored higher than 41 of 50 baseball experts. I am now a member of the SABR (Society for American Baseball Research). Although I am a freshman at Messiah College majoring in accounting, my goal is to become a baseball statistician for the Philadelphia Phillies. I want to have the same influence on the game that Boston Red Sox historian Bill James did. I hope to create numerous statistics and formulas and even play a part in the Philadelphia Phillies' executive decisions.

I will be mostly writing about Philadelphia sports teams, and almost all of my articles will be about baseball or football. I am extremely passionate and incredibly opinionated. As you read my articles, I hope that you can offer feedback, both on my style of writing, and on my opinions.

Favorite Sports Teams

Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies

Favorite Coaches

Charlie Manuel. Andy Reid from 1999-2004.

All Time Sports Moment

Lito Sheppard's 102-yard interception return to beat the Cowboys in 2006; Shane Victorino's grand slam off C.C. Sabathia in the 2008 NLDS

Most Memorable Game Attended

I was at the last game of the legendary four-game sweep of the Mets last August. I had to leave the game in the 8th inning to go usher at the Eagles preseason game versus the New York Jets. I missed Jayson Werth's dramatic steals of second and third, and Chase Utley's walk-off single.

Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Cy Young's 511 wins. Win 20 games for 25 consecutive seasons and you're still 11 short.

Ruth or Mays?

Babe Ruth. People call Mays the greatest all-around player ever, and he may be, but Ruth would have been one of the greatest pitchers of all-time if he never switched to the outfield!

Unitas or Montana?

I'll take Unitas, just because Montana was always hurt. Unitas, on the other hand, was one of the toughest players in NFL history. Unitas also had the streak of 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass, which will never be broken.

Jordan or Russell?

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.

Gretzky or Orr?

Wayne Gretzky might be the single most dominant athlete in ANY sport EVER.

Pele or Maradona?

I don't care about soccer, but Pele is better.

Federer or Sampras?

Sampras now, but Federer in about two years.

Tiger or Nicklaus?

Tiger.

Petty or Earnhardt?

To quote Nikki Boone from Remember the Titans, "I do not care."

Schumacher or Senna?

Give me a break.

Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

The NFL.
