Not a problem, Darius. I always welcome the discussion! Definitely hit me up with your piece on coaching. I'll have mine in this week, too. I ended up delaying it because there was a similar article posted on B/R Sunday.
Great videos, Darius. Thanks for that—and your profile picture. Refocus, Rollin... ok, I'm back.
I thought it would be a comparison of how his game changed from year one to year two, but I guess you were just showing me his explosiveness.
Believe me, I know he can be a great player. However, highlights are just that—highlights.
Barnes can get to the rack, but when the play breaks down, he has the deer in headlights syndrome. It's as if he reads how he wants to drive, but when a defender steps up and breaks his path, he doesn't make a quick decision on what to do from there.
Perhaps Roy should have given him more liberty to freelance and get that down, but when you have that much talent on your squad and you're playing a tight game, every possession counts. If I don't have confidence in a player's ability to create his own shots in that situation, I would leave it up to my PG to help create and decide where the ball should go.
It's not something Barnes can't fix at the next level, but it is something he needs to work on. And I have a hard time finding fault in Roy Williams for that.
Hey Darius. Thanks for the feedback on my article. My responses have been posted.
