The win over the 15-win Lions marked one of the biggest upsets in Commanders history, and it came in large part thanks to Daniels.
The rookie finished the game having gone 22-of-31 for 299 yards and two touchdowns while adding 51 yards on the ground.
Daniels is now the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw multiple touchdown passes in multiple playoff games.
The Commanders capitalized on five turnovers from the Lions' offense, including one in the final thirty seconds to ice the game.
One of those turnovers turned into a pick-six when Commanders safety Quan Martin took an interception on Lions quarterback Jared Goff 40 yards into the end zone.
Both defenses struggled in the first half as the teams traded touchdowns back and forth, but the Lions' turnover issues and Daniels' dominant passing game pushed the Commanders ahead in the second half.
The Commanders will now advance to face either the Los Angeles Rams or Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
The upset win over the Lions has some fans convinced the Commanders could beat either team and earn a trip to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX.
Saturday's win marks the first time the Commanders have advanced past the Divisional Round since the team followed up the 1991 NFL season by winning Super Bowl XXVI.
Daniels is now one more victory away from capping off his rookie season by taking the Commanders all the way back to the Super Bowl.
