Rลki Sasaki, Roman Anthony Top MLB Pipeline's Updated 2025 Prospect Rankings

Adam WellsJan 25, 2025

Just over two weeks away from pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training for the start of a new season, MLB.com has unveiled the top 100 prospects for 2025.

The list is led by 23-year-old phenom Rลki Sasaki after he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Jan. 22.

Coming in behind Sasaki on the list are three outfielders (Roman Anthony, Walker Jenkins, Dylan Crews) and a pitcher (Jackson Jobe) to round out the top five.

All of those questioning whether or not the Dodgers were bad for baseball because of their offseason spending will have plenty to talk about if they follow prospects.

The Dodgers have six top-100 prospects, third-most in MLB behind the Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners (both with seven). Their list includes Sasaki, catcher Dalton Rushing (No. 30), outfielder Josue De Paula (No. 40), left-handed pitcher Jackson Ferris (No. 71), shortstop Alex Freeland (No. 72) and outfielder Zyhir Hope (No. 75).

If you narrow the list to just the top 40 prospects, the Dodgers are only behind the Chicago White Sox (four) for most in MLB.

Sasaki seems almost certain to start the season on the Opening Day roster for Los Angeles. Rushing and Freeland could end up in the big leagues at some point after finishing 2024 in Triple-A.

Other notable stories from the MLB list includes the continued ascent of Anthony. The 20-year-old was a second-round pick by the Red Sox in 2022. He hit .291/.396/.498 with 18 homers and 21 stolen bases in 119 games across Double-A and Triple-A.

Crews and Jobe both ended last season in the big leagues. They should start 2025 with their respective MLB teams.

Anthony figures to be joined in Boston sooner than later by shortstop Marcelo Mayer, who just missed the top 10 by checking in at No. 11. The 2021 first-rounder hit .307/.370/.480 in 77 games at Double-A in 2024.

Coming in ahead of Mayer on the list was Travis Bazzana, the top pick in the 2024 draft by the Cleveland Guardians. After being named Pac-12 Player of the Year at Oregon State, the 22-year-old hit .238/.369/.396 in 27 games at High-A.
