Bayern Munich have been left devastated after it came to light that Holger Badstuber's season will be brought to an abrupt close due to a muscle tear in his thigh. The player is set for "three to four months" on the sidelines.

Just a few days after the centre-back played his part in helping the Bundesliga leaders into the Champions League semi-finals, the injury to Badstuber was confirmed by the club's official Twitter account:

On Friday, manager Pep Guardiola discussed the injury, according to Bayern's official Twitter feed:

Badstuber is no stranger to injury. He missed more than 18 months of his career between December 2012 and July 2014 with an anterior cruciate ligament injury

This latest setback merely deepens the injury woes affecting Pep Guardiola's squad of late, resulting in increased pressure on Jerome Boateng and Mehdi Benatia to tide things over at the back.
