New A.J. Brown Trade Rumors on Rams' Interest in Eagles WR amid Patriots Links

The Los Angeles Rams were closer to acquiring Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown on the trade market compared to the New England Patriots earlier in the offseason, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

"That was really close," Garafolo reported during a Tuesday appearance on the Rich Eisen Show (4:50 mark). "It was closer than it got with the Patriots. That was really close. There was one point where overnight it sort of died. It was like, 'Late one night, this could be going down by the next morning. You know what, there's too many moving parts here.'"

Garafolo noted that he would "not be surprised" if the Rams checked in with the Eagles once again regarding Brown and brought up questions surrounding star receiver Puka Nacua's 2026 outlook (5:56 mark).

Nacua checked into rehab in April.

ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported that Los Angeles and Philadelphia were "further along at one point than people realized" in trade talks involving Brown (h/t Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire).

Meanwhile, New England has been linked to the three-time Pro Bowl receiver throughout the offseason.

The Rams may have some more time to engage in negotiations with the Eagles once again, though.

Philadelphia would incur a dead cap charge of $43.4 million by sending out Brown in a deal before June 1, which drops to $16.4 million if he's traded after that date (via Over the Cap).

Brown is coming off a 2025 season in which he hauled in 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.
