Community Lead

About the Role:

The Community Lead is responsible for creating engaging content and operating B/R’s official accounts in the mobile app. They are in charge of planning app executions around key tentpole events throughout the sports calendar and assist with developing an overarching community strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a global Community and influencer plan for the B/R app

  • Be the voice of the Community and maintain a tight two-way dialogue between all stakeholders. 

  • React to breaking news and roll out official B/R app accounts. 

  • Plan and schedule Community activations, both during live events and out of events

  • Work with analytics to monitor channel engagement and optimize for Community performance

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of directly applicable experience required

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging social trends
  • Worked directly on building or moderating a large social community 

  • Experience working with talent

  • Ability to combine strategic thinking and execution 

  • Sports fanatic with a strong understanding of all major sports 

  • A keen awareness of Bleacher Report’s voice - know how B/R reacts on multiple platforms when breaking news hits

  • Basic photoshop design skills required

  • Strong editing skills with a keen eye for punctuation and grammar is a must 

  • Ability to be hyper-organized and move with speed and flexibility in periods of ambiguity

Creative Executive, Development

The Position

The Creative Executive, Development, will be responsible for developing mid-and-long from content for Bleacher Report and external/internal third-party platforms and channels. This role will be responsible for the development of new, primarily unscripted/docuseries, but inclusive of scripted and animated series (and one-offs) for Bleacher Report. Responsibilities will include sourcing new, compelling ideas from relevant outside parties, hearing pitches, managing notes and ultimately taking projects from concept through delivery. It further includes overseeing and working in partnership with B/R’s internal Programming team as well as third party platforms and channels on all relevant creative matters relating to the development of multiple, concurrent projects.  


Requirements

  • Must have a track record of success, outstanding creative judgment and taste, and the ability to deftly manage talent and producers under high-pressure conditions
  • A reasonable portfolio of content achievements that speak to taste and ability to execute from ideation through delivery  
  • A strong knowledge base in and passion for sports and sports storytelling
  • Strong rolodex of / relationship with agents, producers, writers and production companies
  • Strong relationship skills; collaborating with Programming and Production to achieve consensus and exceptional outcomes
  • Critical understanding of social media, data and analytics and how they properly inform the development process

Deputy Editor, Original Editorial

About the role:

This is a full-time position. We are looking for an enthusiastic MLB and College Sports expert who is eager to plan and oversee text coverage of these sports' biggest names, teams and events, as well as join our production of content around other sports, including NFL, NBA, MMA and Olympics.

The Deputy Editor will work with Bleacher Report's full Editorial team, as well as its Programming, Analytics and Quality Control departments, to plan, assign, track and distribute content. 

The Deputy Editor will help build and maintain our writer base, assign topics to writers, develop story ideas and review published content. They will target goals around reader engagement that incorporates the full breadth of B/R's distribution platforms. This is not a writing position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Tracking MLB, College Football and College Basketball news.
  • Tracking news across a mix of sports and leagues, depending on the season, as part of a core team of editors.
  • Optimizing expert analysis and feature reporting to fit B/R's mission around App growth and Social engagement.
  • Developing feature and news-based story ideas for a wide variety of text content.
  • Communicating with writers, editors and programmers to maximize the quality and reach of text content.
  • Identifying prospective writers and developing current writers.
  • Working nights and weekends as called for by games, events and news.
  • Planning and executing text coverage strategy around major events like trade deadlines, playoffs and other seasonal tentpoles.

About you:

  • 3+ years experience creating or organizing sports content.
  • Deep familiarity with the sports media landscape across all platforms, with a keen eye for what attracts loyal, engaged users.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and at ease with the Google digital suite.
  • 3+ years experience working regularly with digital publishing systems.
  • Remote location OK, if not based near New York City or San Francisco B/R office.

About the Show 

Gridiron Heights is BR’s original animated series about the NFL that runs weekly throughout the football season. The series turns players into characters and news into storylines, all in the course of one joke-packed minute. Taking place in the fictional town of Gridiron Heights where all players, coaches, and owners live and work together, everything from the commissioner to cleats are turned into jokes.


About the Role

The Gridiron Heights team is looking for an editor to join us for the upcoming season.  There are two main parts of this position: audio and post.  In Audition this person will be recording audio, arranging tracks, and laying in sound design and music.  In Premiere they will be arranging final animation and exporting for various sources and specs.  All of this happening in a fast-paced but fun production schedule.  This is a temporary role not eligible for benefits.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Running sessions with voice actors and noting best takes 

  • Assembling the audio track for each episode 

  • Selecting music tracks and incorporating them into the audio to help direct visual cues 

  • Sound design 

  • Being mindful of pacing and episode time constraints

  • Export final deliverables 

  • Ability to adapt to changes in production plan/schedules

  • Temp position, tentatively starting this month with a tentative end date of 2/7/19 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 5 years editing experience

  • Expert in Adobe Premiere Pro and its captioning tools

Social Stories Video Producer

The Social Stories team is looking for an experienced, dedicated NYC-based Producer to create videos for our social channels that cover a variety of sports as well as sports culture. We work in a fast-paced, 24-7 field in a laid-back environment. You'll be in a role that allows you to work with multiple groups and networks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Pitch, plan and produce multiple videos each week for B/R’s social platforms
  • Research story ideas and find supporting information efficiently
  • Display a knowledge across pop culture, multiple sports and social media platforms
  • Be able to tell an effective, coherent story through video in B/R’s social voice
  • Show an eagerness to learn, a hunger to work hard, and an ability to get things done
  • Plan future events and story coverage in conjunction with content and programming teams
  • Teach best practices to junior producers and production assistants
  • Work with production leadership to schedule editing and post-production needs

Requirements:

About the Job:

We are looking for a Video Editor to be an integral part of House of Highlights team, specifically focusing on back-end editing for original content projects. Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting the entire video team on story planning, pitch process, and new segments.
  • Graphic and photo organization, edit with Photoshop
  • Performing heavy editing work, compiling notes and doing string outs to guide content through the back end of production.

When submitting application, it is highly recommended to submit past examples of work and/or a reel.

Additional qualifications we're looking for in you: 

  • Minimum 1 year of Video Production experience
  • Passion for youth culture, sports, and digital media
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and web publishing skills
  • Deep understanding of content created specifically for social media, particularly IG and YouTube
  • Ability to work in a team environment with flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends
