Come to Think of it...White Sox Get Boost from Republicans in Chase with Twins
The Minnesota Twins are smack dab in the middle of a long, 14 game, 15 day road trip, thanks to the Republican National Convention.
It is their longest road trip since 1969.
So now who do Twins fans vote for? They are angry that the McCain-led Republicans for having displaced them from their home, while Barack Obama is an admitted Sox fan, even if his logic is questionable.

But sports and politics make strange bedfellows, so let's leave that one alone for now, and focus on the standings and upcoming schedules of both teams, in what is shaping up to be perhaps the most exciting finish in baseball.
The Twins (75-68) rallied for a 6-5 win over Seattle on Wednesday to snap a four-game losing streak and move within one game of the AL Central-leading White Sox, which lost later in the evening.
But Minnesota is only 3-4 on their trip, and have seven games remaining away from home. The Sox begin a six game road trip of their own, starting Friday at Boston. But after that, they play their next ten at home, before going back on the road for a ten game trip.
Listen, the Twins aren't the only ones who will have it rough. The Sox will end up playing 16 of their next 26 games on the road, facing teams like Boston, the Angels and the Yankees. They conclude with three at home against the Indians.
The Twins finish up their current road trip on September 4th at Toronto, then come home to play six games against the Tigers and Royals. They then start a ten game trip of their own, with the only winning team being the Rays for four games beginning September 18th.
But the series everyone is targeting is the pivotal three games between the division rivals September 23-25 at Minnesota. It's feasible that series could decide the title.
Ah, no politics, just baseball. Come to think of it, that's the way it was meant to be.
